The best 2 pages of info I've ever read. R5 a carton off the top line is significant in my opinion. Hopefully there is a positive resolve to the 🇺🇸 - 🇿🇦 trade relations. Well done to the CGA market access team, looking forward to positive influences in the market access domain.

Dear Exporters. An update on South Korea preclearance measures. The APQA have audited the citrus protocol and measures against their proposal for DALRRD to conduct an independent preclearance program. We are awaiting the results of the audit with communication from the DALRRD to this effect. Should there be a positive outcome DALRRD will be permitted to conduct the preclearance measures void of the APQA inspectors being present in SA for the duration of the season. A very beneficial outcome. We will communicate as soon as we receive the official response from DALRRD to this effect. B Regards

Today I attended a session hosted by Agbiz outlining the Rail Network Statement (by Jan Louis Spoelstra) and Private Sector Participation department (by Jaap vd Merwe). Very informative session unpacking the processes and opportunities in the Rail and Ports environments applicable for the Agri sector. I outlined the immediate focus on Loskop region and the study that will be commissioned in the near future. We also see short term scope for Rail on the Maputo corridor. Still much to be done before we see the first inaugural private sector Rail operations on the SA network. Capital funding on Rail assets I think needs a good framework.

Currently attending the Transport Forum SiG workshop on RTMS and PBS application. A presentation by Afrit trailers outlined a new PBS trailer design concept that will be available to draw on single traction horse 2 x 12m reefer containers by road for the citrus industry. We have already set up engagements with Dr Nordengen to assist in the permit applications and have a trailer manufactured for trial purposes. Should the concept be successful we should see the application being introduced to haul 2 x 12m reefer containers between packhouses/cold stores to rail sites or long haul to port terminals. I'll update as we continue on this process.

CRI Packhouse Workshop, Die Stoor Nelspruit. Opening address by regional Director, Andrew Muller (Lekka lekka). Andrew outlined the importance of increasing citrus exports from Maputo port.

The South Korean APQA have arrived to SA to conduct dual audit on Citrus and Table Grapes. All going well we are hoping APQA permit DALRRD to conduct independent inspections. We should see Korea and Japan markets open for exports in the month of February.

It's important for Red Sea vessel movement to regain momentum to balance trade flows east and west. The Red Sea ceasefire has seen vessels routing there again and in the coming weeks the balance of trade should gain momentum preventing the possible over supply of citrus into important markets in Asia, FE and SE Asia.

Dear Exporters, We have received a request from Exporters to permit early season preclearance and exports to Japan. Since we usually call for season estimates towards the end of March, may we please request a weekly forecast for period leading to the last week of March in the interim. Based on the combined forecast we can then send a consolidated motivation to DALRRD to request early season exports to Japan. Much appreciated. Email to [email protected] [email protected]
