*The Cost of Discipleship* Luke 9vs23 and Luke 14vs27 above tells us that a disciple has to pickup a cross And then in Luke 14 vs 26 and 27 shows us *surrender* as another cost of Discipleship
Picking up your cross daily means dieing, dieing to yourself - your will, interests and anything that stands in the way . It may not necessarily be a sin but it's there in your way, you can't follow closer cuz it's there you can't even hear the master speak cuz it's there hindering your growth and intimacy with God . The cross here represents death it means something has to die.
So just as Christ carried a cross. As Disciples we also carry a cross. Christ died for our sins and salvation while we die to the world and its influence in us. I hope you see it now not all believers carry a cross but every believers must! The early Disciples faced persecution, ridicule, mockery, contempt and probably everything in between. This is to say we also would face persecution, trials we may get uncomfortable but we have to embrace it the challenges and struggles because with each step we get closer to Him and become more like our master - Jesus. 1peter2:21 NLT For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering,just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example and you must follow Him

So picking up ur cross daily means as you follow as you learn from him as you obey living each day for the lord something dies. Galatians 6:14 (NLT) "But God forbid that I should boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world's interest in me has also been crucified."

Practically dieing to yourself is just deciding to follow the Holy spirit over the daily decisions, daily actions that your flesh wants to partake in.
