*The stories from Pre-Match Press Conference: “From the first minute I knew I was in the right place…”* The pre-match press conference, before the electrifying clash of Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC in the home at VYBK, Mohun Bagan SG Head Coach Jose Molina and the star of the team Jamie Maclaren held it. All the Indian football fans and especially the Mariners and their team are keeping a special lookout for tomorrow’s clash with Odisha FC at home, as winning the match will seal the deal for Mohun Bagan to win the ISL shield of 2024-2025 season. Though for Molina it is just another normal match where the team will give their best and try to win it. But he has also admitted that it is a tough psychological moment as they are so close to win the shield and still 3 matches on hand and this is a big game. He has focused that nothing is more important nut to win the game and to think one step at a time. As we all agree and so does the coach, in this season to play every opponent in every stadium is tough, but the team has been working hard and only want to fight and win. But there’s no second thought on *“Fans pushing us and we hope to do a good match”.* Coach emphasized that the only open secret about the success of Mohun Bagan SG this season is consistent hard work. When everything could go smooth, but the injury of Sahal will not allow him to play for tomorrow’s match, which can affect the table topper’s midfield, but the rest all are fit till now. But Molina is optimistic about the team’s current status and players. Pertaining to the ISL table Odisha is at the 7th position having 29 points in 21 matches, a win in the next match will make things tractable for them. Sergio Lobera, being a tactical maestro will try heart and soul to win every match and the last time Mohun Bagan SG faced Odisha, they had a tough time and ended in an 1-1 draw. But Molina is well aware about their opponents – their strategy, formation, playing style and tactics. He also assured – *“Also if something changes, there’s nothing to worry, the team is ready to give all.* The name Jamie Maclaren just like the club Mohun Bagan comes with a golden glory. He has always loved to score goals and has scored the highest goals for A league and he has also won the most Golden Boots in the league. He has been doing the same in Mohun Bagan SG, being the highest scorer for the team scoring 10goals in 20matches. But the goal scoring pressure was never only on him that is why it was easy for him to score. The team is hungry as ever to win the ISL shield again and about his goal scoring target he is very clear that – *“I don’t have any target in goals but we want to win the shield and the trophy. We have a good team; the team doesn’t depend upon one person for goals from the backline to the front line everybody is hungry for goals. No pressure on me for goals all season, the most important is to win.”* He has scored several goals in his career but he has his favourite for the ISL – the 2nd stupendous goal against KBFC, lobbing over the goalkeeper with a brilliant first touch. Also he talked about some of Derby goals in India which have a special place in his heart. There is no doubt whoever has joined the team Mohun Bagan SG have enjoyed their time here. From the fans to the glory and legacy of the club it is an added feather to every one of their careers. And obviously it is the same but exciting story for the all-time A- League highest scorer Jamie Maclaren too has been enjoying his time here in Kolkata with Mohun Bagan – *“The minute I landed in Kolkata I knew I was in the right place, the reception at the airport I have never received such experience.”* But indeed, Jamie’s path was not smooth in Mohun Bagan from the start itself, several questions were asked when he was injured. He told – *“I know everything happened for a reason, I had to regain the fitness and the trust of the coach…. In February or March we are sitting 10 points clear, they (the fans and the media) are very happy and we are very happy. But we do not only sit here but we want to strive better... Really good and strong team, we deserve to be here. I knew from day 1 that I was in a good team.”* He has praised the whole team, which is standing invincible right now, the defenders, midfielders and the frontline, the ability to score goals from multiple positions, deadly freekicks, not conceding much goals are a key to success for this team. He has praised about becoming a team man and scoring for the team and letting others score has been an asset to this team and that has always encouraged him to a better version of himself every single day. The team is so strong that all combination of frontline till now has worked perfect and that’s why we are sitting at the top of the table. Jamie and the whole team are having their hopes held high to win the shield and still there’s 3 matches left to gain most points. It is evident from the performance that the team though has momentary celebrations for winning matches but they move on and are back to their business to put all the hard work and efforts to win the next match. Tomorrow’s home match will be an advantage because of the immense support from the crowd. He also added the fans want the big team in Kolkata to win a Trophy. *“We’ve been so strong at home. We love playing at home. And we touched on there’s going to be a great crowd. So, what better way to try and give them success..”* Today, in a wonderful step the young players were awarded boots and his message to all the young players out there is – *“My message is for these boys is, never be satisfied… You’ve got to do it consistently on a consistent basis. Listen to your coaches as the most important thing I learned as a young kid is take the advice and when the training is over, whether when their coach blows a whistle. You say you do extra you say another 10-15 minutes and you work on situations which you think you can improve your game.”* About the club the star told – *“Representing this club is a huge honour and this team needs me in special moments. With season I perform better. If I get a chance, you can back on me to take a shot on goal. I will be ready to try and get us 3 points and lift my first trophy in India. This club will always attract top players, top Indian players, top star. So, it’s a joy to be part of our hopes for a night. We can create history. We already have our records. So, I always go back to Australia when I retire. I always look back and have think that you know, we want to have highest points in Indian League's history (58).”* The highest point (58) record in ISL can be one of the greatest achievement of Jamie’s career. Though the mariners are harboring high expectations for tomorrow already, but for the team tomorrow’s game is just another game of 90 minutes and the team wants to put it all and a win can have a little celebration in dressing room with a couple of drinks, but also there are matches left after it.
