*Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam warned us against the plundering trend of the west: ‘’Soon the nations will invite each other against you(muslims). They will invite each other as inviting for a meal. It will not because of minority but lust for wealth will ground muslims from fighting.’’(Abu Dawood)* حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جَابِرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوشِكُ الْأُمَمُ أَنْ تَدَاعَى عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا تَدَاعَى الْأَكَلَةُ إِلَى قَصْعَتِهَا فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ وَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ نَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ غُثَاءٌ كَغُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ وَلَيَنْزَعَنَّ اللَّهُ مِنْ صُدُورِ عَدُوِّكُمْ الْمَهَابَةَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَيَقْذِفَنَّ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ الْوَهْنَ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْوَهْنُ قَالَ حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا وَكَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَوْتِ سنن ابي داود **Calling Hamas a terrorist org, Israel and the west want to disarm Palestinians from Hamas and then they will plunder Gaza and other places.* *Today, it is common to hear and witness the colonialists genociders to invade and steal land and raw materials of muslim lands.* *HasbunAllahou Wani`mal Wakeel. ** *Muslims should repent from greedy lust of accumulating dunya wealth, ponder and invest in akhirah and prepare ourselves and our children ready to defend our borders and our dignity against these pig mercenaries*

حَدَّثَنا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ شَهْرٍ، قالَ: زُلْزِلَتِ المَدِينَةُ فِي عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقالَ: «إنَّ رَبَّكُمْ يَسْتَعْتِبُكُمْ فَأعْتِبُوهُ» مصنف ابن أبي شيبة *In the times of Rasouloullah swalallahou alaihi wasallam, the was a tremor earth quake. Bismihi Ta`ala *AROUND THE 15TH SHA`BAAN.* *These are two main conditions for acceptance of a good action: ikhlaas and sunnah. That is one should fine tune one`s motivation and objective of accomplishing the action only and only for Allah Ta`ala. And also do the action according to the established sunnah of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam. That is why we need to know the sunnah way of life.* *By learning about his Sunnah, we shall avoid introducing new practices in the Deen. Because the innovation of unfounded practices or habits is strictly condemned by the Shariah: “Beware of new innovations in the Deen. Because every innovation is Bid’ah. And every Bid’ah leads to Hellfire.” (Abu Dawood). That is why the Deen must be practised correctly. One must distinguish between ancestral traditions and the sunnah, in order to adopt the sunnah only. That is why we shall mention only the sunnah as regards the 15th night of Shabaan.* *THE GREAT NIGHT OF SHAB E BARAAT* *We have no right to ascribe worthiness or sacredness to any day or night unless we find evidence thereof in the holy Qur-aan and in the sunnah of the beloved prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam). The bearers of the sunnah are the Sahabah (RA). It is they who have demonstrated the value of the sunnah to mankind. The beloved prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam) has proclaimed the benchmark of true guidance: “Only that group which shall adopt my sunnah and the practices of the Sahabahs (RA) shall be on the right path” (Tirmizi). It is to be noted that the nights of great value according to the Qur-aan and the sunnah are: the nights of Ramadhaan(including lailatul qadr), the nights of the two Eids, the first 10 nights of Zil Hijjah and the 15th night of Shabaan. (Shab e Baraat). One can observe that the 27th night of Rajab and the nights of Rabi ul Awwal has no preferencial value over other nights.* *It has been reported by Sahih Ibn Hibbaan, by Tirmizi and by Ibn Majah that the prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam) valued the 15th night of Sha`baan as a night of sanctity. Hazrat Ayesha (RA) has reported that it was her turn to spend the night with the prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam). However, on entering her house, the prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam) left immediately without a word. So she followed him and saw him in Jannat ul Baqi (the graveyard) seeking Allah’s forgiveness for the dead. The prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam) informed her that it was the 15th night of Shabaan, when Allah forgives without reckoning, with the exception of unbelievers and those who break ties. This same report can be found in the following books: Baihaqi, Tabrani Awsat, Tabrani Kabeer, Shua’bul Imaan, Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Bazzaar, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaibah and Musannaf Abdur Razzaak. Although some have qualified the account of Tirmizi as being weak, but the collection of ahadiths with different sources bring the following hadith of Ibn Majah as being hassan and reliable:* عن أبي موسى الأشعري عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال إن الله ليطلع في ليلة النصف من شعبان فيغفر لجميع خلقه إلا لمشرك أو مشاحن سنن ابن ماجة ''*Allah Ta`ala descends His mercy during the night of 15th Sha`baan so that He forgives all His creation except a Polytheist or someone who break ties.’’(Ibn Majah)* *The vast majority of the ulamas of India and Pakistan also hold the view of the virtue of the night of 15th Sha`baan. Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dahlawi r.a., Mufti Kifayatullah r.a. of Kifayatul Mufti,Mufti Mahmood r.a. of India and whose qabr lies South Africa did also mention the virtues of the night of 15th Sha`baan in his fatawa Mahmoodiyah, M Thanwi r.a. etc. S. Same view by Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Radha ul Haq d.b. and other contemporary ulams. Arab ulamas also do accept the virtue of this night.* *Hence, the night of Shab e Baraat enjoys the virtue of a night of ibaadah according to valid hadiths. One must, however, note that no hadith has been found in favour of nafil salaah in congregation, or recitation of specific surahs or occasions where food is distributed specifically during that night. Hence, we should avoid all these things which are simply innovations.* *ASKING FORGIVENESS TO EACH OTHER BEFORE SHABE BARAAT IS BID`AH AND INNOVATED LATELY.* *A newly innovated practice is to ask forgiveness to each other before the night of 15th Sha`baan. This practice is not found in the Qur-aan and Sunnah. The reasoning behind it is that it has been reported that one year`s detailed destiny is revealed to the angels during that night. Although most tafseers indicate that that night of destiny is laylatul qadr during Ramadhaan, but we find some riwayats and tafseers that support that human life ending is revealed yearly to the angels during 15th Sha`baan night. But nothing about asking forgiveness to each other. But rather to ask forgiveness to Allah Ta`ala because we may not know that our names may be listed in the death list.* *PAYING A VISIT TO GRAVE YARD FOR MEN.* *In some of those riwayats, one finds the sunnah of paying a visit to the graveyard during that night, as already mentioned before. In fact, one should not arrange group visits as it is not an obligation to go there. It is advisable to pay a discreet visit alone, as did the prophet (SAW), without the need to publicize it. One should not also feel the need to go there on each Shab e Baraat, as a kind of obligation, because we do not find such practices in the lives of the Sahabahs (RA). So alternatively, the men folk only can go individually and discreetly to the grave yard(Fatawa Mahmoodiya).* *FASTING ON THE 15th DAY OF SHABAAN* *It has been reported in a hadith of Ibn Majah that the Prophet (SAW) has stated: “Spend the night of 15th Shabaan in Ibaadah and fast on the 15th day.” (Ibn Majah).* قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةُ النِّصْفِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ فَقُومُوا لَيْلَهَا وَصُومُوا نَهَارَهَا ابن ماجة *Although that hadith is weak, but know that it has also been reported in several books namely: Mishkat, Tafseer Rouhul Ma’ani, Dourre Mansoor of Imam Suyuti, Baihaqi, Umdatul Qari and in Tuhwatul Ahwazi of Mubarakpuri. It should be noted that hadith is not mawdoo nor a fabricated hadith.* *One must bear in mind that, although that hadith is weak, it is still virtuous to fast because we are here in presence of a hadith in itself and it is not a lie attributed to the prophet (Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam). And it has always been principle of all ulamas at all times to accept a weak hadith when it deals with matters of virtuous actions.* *Hence we find the list of these ulamas that support the fasting of 15th Sha`baan alone as virtuous:* 1. Sheikh Abdul Haq Dahlawi r.a. 2. Mowlana Thanwi r.a. in his book deen ki batein. 3. Mufti Mahmood ul Hassan Gangohi r.a. in his Fatawa Mahmooduyah. 4. Quotes: *It is recommended to fast on the 15th Sha'baan. ..basing on the hadith mentioned(in Ibn Majah)"-Fatawa Ramali.* *We find the same opinion of fasting in Fatawa Mahmoodiyah.* *Hazrat Mowlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi r.a. also writes: ‘It is mustahab to fast on the 15th Sha`baan’(Zawalus Sunnah, Pg 10)* *Fatawa Zakaryah exhibit that Hazrat Mufti Radha ul Haq sahab d.b. also hold the same view that one can fast on the 15th Sha`baan objectively for its virtue.* *Mufti Taqi Usmani damat Barakaatuhu writes: ‘There has been clear texts from ulamas inducing that 15th Sha`baan fasting is recommended.’* *Mufti Shafi` sahab r.a., the once great mufti of Pakistan also hold the view to fast objectively on 15th.(Fatawa Zakarya)* *Allamah Qudbuddeen Muhaddith Dahlawi also writes the recommendation of fasting on 15th Sha`baan(Mazahire Haq 2/364).* *As such it is recommended to spend the night of Shabe Baraat in salaah, tilaawah and zikrullah and also keep the fast on the day of 15th Shabaan.* *We find this du`a from Shu`abul Imaan and also from Nassai that can be read during the night of Shabe Baraat:* أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ، جَلَّ وَجْهُكَ، لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ *Aauzu bi’afwika min ‘iqaabika wa ‘aoozu bi Ridhaaka min sakhatika wa ‘aoozu minka jalla wajuka laa uhsee sanaa an ‘alayka anta kama asnayta ‘ala nafsik* *Translation: I seek protection in Your forgiveness from Your punishment; and I seek shelter in Your pleasure from Your displeasure; and I seek safety in You, from You. Glory be to You. I am unable to fully praise You. You are as you have praised Yourself*. *Please note that no special dish or specific ibaadahs for this night. Nor beautifying masjid. But rather spend whole night or partial night in ibaadahs and duas. Ask for forgiveness to Allah because Allah Ta`ala forgive a lot during this night. There are some unfortunate exceptions from this forgiveness: Mushrik(Non believer), breaking family ties, criminal, men who cover their ankles with their trousers, disobedient to perents, drunkard/drug addict, adulterer, those who deceive people and those who paint living things.* *If ever you happen to be indulging in these, then instantly make tawbah and ask forgiveness and make a pact to Allah Ta`ala that you will not redo again. Then insha Allah, you will be forgiven tonight in the 15th Shabaan insha Allah.* Mufti Ayoob Mackoojee

*We find this du`a from Shu`abul Imaan and also from Nassai that can be read during the night of Shabe Baraat:* أَعُوذُ بِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ، جَلَّ وَجْهُكَ، لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ *Aauzu bi’afwika min ‘iqaabika wa ‘aoozu bi Ridhaaka min sakhatika wa ‘aoozu minka jalla wajuka laa uhsee sanaa an ‘alayka anta kama asnayta ‘ala nafsik* *Translation: I seek protection in Your forgiveness from Your punishment; and I seek shelter in Your pleasure from Your displeasure; and I seek safety in You, from You. Bismihi Ta`ala *MUSLIMS CANNOT CELEBRATE ST VALENTINE.* Celebration of St Valentine day is an emblem of the Christian faith. As such celebrating St Valentine day on 14th Febuary is associated with the Christian Anglican faith(refer to notes at the end). As such muslims CANNOT take part in the St Valentine. One cannot accept or give gifts on that connection. The beloved prophet SAW came to perfect the religion of Islam and he has been an example of compassion and love to one and all. He instructed men to show love and compassion to their spouses on their daily basis. Not yearly basis. The beloved prophet SAW said: ‘‘Exchange gifts, you will love each other.’’(Baihaqi) The beloved prophet SAW used to take the sip of water from the same place of the wife`s lips. Sitting and eating in the same plate, he used to offer a morsel of the meal to the wife. The concept of love is lived daily by a muslim couple. The wife also attend to give surprise to the husband by preparing a good meal or by adorning herself with beautiful clothing and cosmetics for a pleasurable intimacy, etc. All these has to be continued even after years of marriage. Sometimes it should be done purposely and religiously. The beloved prophet SAW said: ‘‘Choose a wife that is a lover and can conceive for children.’’(Abu Dawood) Therefore understand that it needs will power from both sides after years of marriage to cultivate a couple relation. That is why the best husband is the one who can continue offer the wife comfort, care, love and compassion until the end. The same is reciprocally applied to the wife. But know that it is the husband that initiates talk and care at home. In view of promoting love and care between the couple, the Qur-aan instructs us to say salaam. The beloved prophet SAW said to Annas r.a: ‘‘O my boy, when you enter the house of your family, then say Salaam. As this will be a blessing for you and also for the family in the house.’’(Tirmizi) The beloved prophet SAW instructed women neighbours to exchange gifts daily to each other by sending a little piece of meal cooked: عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَا نِسَاءَ الْمُسْلِمَاتِ لَا تَحْقِرَنَّ جَارَةٌ لِجَارَتِهَا وَلَوْ فِرْسِنَ شَاةٍ بخاري The beloved prophet SAW said: ‘‘O Muslim women! Do not belittle anything to send to your woman neighbour, even if it is a sheep`s hoof.’’(Bukhari) The spirit of the hadith explain to us that times to times, do send for something to your female neighbour, even if it is something small and simple that you cooked or a piece meal of your cooking. The beloved prophet SAW said: ‘‘Exchange gifts often as this take out the bitterness of the heart for each other.’’(Tirmizi) Exchanging gifts does not await a specific day of the year as mother`s, father`s, spouses, etc. But rather it is done often and continuously, according to one`s means. Finally let`s refresh the topic that it is NOT permissible for any muslim to exchange gifts on the Christian St Valentine occasion nor should we feel unespecial if we did not receive any gift that day. Mufti Mackoojee References: According to history, each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia. Another encyclopaedia: It originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast day honoring one or more early saints named Valentinus, and is recognized as a significant cultural and commercial celebration in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any country. A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome which indicated he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, Saint Valentine healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius, and before his execution, he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell. Saint Valentine's Day is an official feast day in the Anglican Communion, as well as in the Lutheran Church.

Bismihi Ta`ala *RECOMMENDED TO PRAY FAJR JAMAAT EARLIER DURING RAMADHAAN.* *The timing of Salaah comes from the sunnah of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam. From numerous ahadiths, the time limits of each salaah are well defined. The Qur-aan imposes on us to read Salaah at its prescribed time. (4:103)* إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَوْقُوتًا ‘*Salaah is an obligation on the believers at its prescribed time*’(4:103) *In between the time span prescribed by sunnah, we identify a* *recommended time that the beloved prophet Muhammad Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam adopted.* *This time is recommended.* *For example, there are prescription of reading Zohr later in the afternoon during Summer. And earlier during winter. But the main principle in that timing is to target the time that there will be most attendance of musallees.* *So the best time for a jamaat in a Masjid is to find the easiest time of most musallees in that area and then consult a few muftis to confirm about the suitability of that time. In fact, it is mentioned in Shami that practically, it is better to do salaah at the earlier times but can be adjusted due to later time as per most attendance of musallees:* نَعَمْ ذَكَرَ شُرَّاحُ الْهِدَايَةِ وَغَيْرُهُمْ فِي بَابِ التَّيَمُّمِ أَنَّ أَدَاءَ الصَّلَاةِ فِي أَوَّلِ الْوَقْتِ أَفْضَلُ إلَّا إذَا تَضَمَّنَ التَّأْخِيرُ فَضِيلَةً لَا تَحْصُلُ بِدُونِهِ كَتَكْثِيرِ الْجَمَاعَةِ ؛ وَلِهَذَا كَانَ أَوْلَى لِلنِّسَاءِ أَنْ يُصَلِّينَ فِي أَوَّلِ الْوَقْتِ ؛ لِأَنَّهُنَّ لَا يَخْرُجْنَ إلَى الْجَمَاعَةِ كَذَا فِي مَبْسُوطَيْ شَمْسِ الْأَئِمَّةِ وَفَخْرِ الْإِسْلَامِ رد المحتار *Under this principle, Zohr jamaat time of most of the world masjids are not variable but rather are fixed at about lunch time throughout the year simply because most musallee workers can attend that time.* *In this very angle, the ulamas of Deoband have adopted that it is better to read Jamaat Fajr salaah earlier during Ramadhaan. This recommendation is due to because most musallees are fasting and hence will find it easier to read Fajr at about 15 minutes after sehri than the usual time.* *In fact, the beloved prophet Muhammad Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam left us with the recommended time of Fajr in the dark, after sehri. That is some minutes after sehri. But he also said to read Fajr in the latter time(when morning is brighter) is more rewardable.(Tirmizi)**Know that Fajr salaah starts after sehri and ends at the appearance time of sun disk on the horizon. Our masjids read Fajr at about 25 minutes before sunrise because most of musallees attend that time. But note that the scenario of attendance during Ramadhaan would maximise if we pray Fajr salaah earlier.* *Ideally, to read Fajr jamaat 15 to 20 minutes after sehri would prevent people from sleeping after sehri and they would attend Jamaat right after their sehris. And also we would have adopted the also sunnah practice of reading Fajr at early time.* *In fact, there is a hadith in Bukhari that support the fact that Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam used to read Fajr salaah during Ramadhaan some minutes right after sehri:* عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَسَحَّرْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قُلْتُ كَمْ كَانَ بَيْنَ الْأَذَانِ وَالسَّحُورِ قَالَ قَدْرُ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً بخاري *Hazrat Zaid r.a. said: ‘We used to make sehri together with Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam and he would then stand to read Fajr. He estimated the time between sehri and Fajr jamaat about the reading time of 50 ayats’(Bukhari)* *The commentators of this Hadith noted that it is recommended to eat sehri in the morning, before sehri ends. And also the fact that Fajr was early during Ramadhaan. Allamah Kashmiri r.a. described the time of reading 50 ayahs as 4 minutes after sehri.(Arfas Shazi)* *Some commentators of Hidayah also described that Fajr during Ramadhaan should be done earlier than usual.(Fatawa Zakarya)* *In Ma`rifus sunnan, M Yousuf Binnory noted the same trend of reading Ramadhaan Fajr earlier than usual and closer to sehri.* *As a matter of sunnah principle of management, it is recommended to take into consideration the weaker ones. In our context, let`s take consideration of youths waking up for late sehri, their brushing of teeth and toilets, etc. And also time to read 2 sunnah Fajr and reach the Masjid with takbeer tahrima. Hence Fajr Jamaat during Ramadhaan is recommended at about 15-20 minutes after sehri time.* *Bear in mind that we should finish sehri eating, drinking and brushing of teeth some minutes before official sehri time ends. As a matter of precaution.* *If your Masjid does not adjust their Fajr during Ramadhaan, then talk to the mutawalli so that it becomes easier for musallis and we may follow this sunnah of Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam.* Mufti Mackoojee @MuftiMackoojee Islam-qna.org +23057921333

Bismihi Ta`ala *We should not decrease Taraweeh rakaats* *First of all know that Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam performed Taraweeh during Ramadhaan, but then left it on sunnah Muakadah prescription in fear that it may become wajib and that people will later neglect it.* صحيح البخاري - (7 / 137) حدثنا يحيى بن بكير حدثنا الليث عن عقيل عن ابن شهاب أخبرني عروة أن عائشة رضي الله عنها أخبرته أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خرج ليلة من جوف الليل فصلى في المسجد وصلى رجال بصلاته فأصبح الناس فتحدثوا فاجتمع أكثر منهم فصلى فصلوا معه فأصبح الناس فتحدثوا فكثر أهل المسجد من الليلة الثالثة فخرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فصلى فصلوا بصلاته فلما كانت الليلة الرابعة عجز المسجد عن أهله حتى خرج لصلاة الصبح فلما قضى الفجر أقبل على الناس فتشهد ثم قال أما بعد فإنه لم يخف علي مكانكم ولكني خشيت أن تفترض عليكم فتعجزوا عنها فتوفي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والأمر على ذلك *Reported in Bukhari that Rasouloullah SAW came out to pray one night and people started follow him. Then the second night, the crowd grew more and on fourth night, the Masjid was full and that’s when Rasouloullah SAW did not come out* . *After Fajr He explained that he feared that this salaah becomes wajib and then people will be very sinful neglecting it.* *Fuqahas explain that the salaah already reached Sunnah Muakadah prescription. Had Rasouloullah SAW came out on 4th night, then it would have reach woujoub.* *At this point, there is no mention that the salaah where people gathered in the Masjid was tahajud. Because Tahajud is a nafil salaah done daily in the last past of the night. Jaufil Akhir-last part of the night. Not Jauf-during night. As mentioned in the above hadith.* *Now, those sahabahs that participated with Rasouloullah SAW these salaahs, they will definitely have noted the number of rakaats. That is why in Tirmizi, it is mentioned that most ulamas of the first century who were the proxy students of sahabahs agreed that Taraweeh salaah is 20 rakaats.* سنن الترمذي - (3 / 299) وَأَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ عَلَى مَا رُوِيَ عَنْ عُمَرَ وَعَلِيٍّ وَغَيْرِهِمَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِشْرِينَ رَكْعَةً وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ و قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ وَهَكَذَا أَدْرَكْتُ بِبَلَدِنَا بِمَكَّةَ يُصَلُّونَ عِشْرِينَ رَكْعَةً *Imaam Tirmizi writes: ‘’Most Ulamas agree to what was reported from Umar ra, Ali ra and other than them also from the lots of sahabahs of Rasouloullah SAW agreed unanimously that taraweeh is 20 rakaats. The same opinion is expressed by Thowry, Ibn Mubarak and Imaam Shafi`ee. Imaam Shafi`ee says I saw the people of Makkah reading 20 rakaats Taraweeh(around year 160 hijri).* *So from the first century until 2021/1442, there was always 20 rakaats in Makkah Mukaramah. And a present great Arab scholar named Atiyah bin Salim assembled the history of taraweeh of all generations in Masjid An Nabawi and he concludes that all time during all generations Masjid An Nabawi was all time prayed 20 rakaats taraweeh.* *So it is a Bid`ah to innovate 10 rakaats taraweeh in harams.* *Sinful to neglect the remaining 10 rakaats rakaats because taraweeh is sunnah muakadah.* *Since this is a sunnah from the times of Khulafas rashid, we should absolutely not deviate from 20 rakaats.* صحيح ابن حبان - (1 / 11) أوصيكم بتقوى الله ، والسمع والطاعة ، وإن عبدا حبشيا مجدعا ، فإنه من يعش منكم فسيرى اختلافا كثيرا ، فعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين ، فتمسكوا بها ، وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ *Rasouloullah Swalallahou `Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘’Those who would live(after me) will see lots of divergences. So hold onto my sunnah and the sunnah of my rightly guided Khalifs. Hold firmly and stubbornly onto that such that lock your premolar teeth on these sunnahs.’’(Sahih Ibn Hibaan)* *Finally know that if we change the established practice of deen here, then we will be pushed away from Rasouloullah Swalallahou Alaihi Wasallam by the pond of Kawsar on the day of qiyamah(Sahih Muslim)* أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «لَيَرِدَنَّ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ رِجَالٌ مِمَّنْ صَاحَبَنِي، حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَيْتُهُمْ وَرُفِعُوا إِلَيَّ اخْتُلِجُوا دُونِي، فَلَأَقُولَنَّ: أَيْ رَبِّ، أُصَيْحَابِي أُصَيْحَابِي! فَلَيُقَالَنَّ لِي: إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ ». صحيح مسلم - *The authorities responsible for the administration of Haramein should re-establish the 20 rakaats Taraweeh in Harams.
