Paddling pool update - Sutton on Sea ⚠️ To allow the finishing touches to be completed at the Maple Leaf paddling pool in Sutton on Sea, the pool will be closed over the next few days. The team were committed to ensuring the pool was open for the May bank holiday weekend, and we hope those who have visited so far have appreciated and enjoyed the significantly improved facilities that have been delivered. These finishing touches are part of the planned and budgeted programme as we head towards what we hope to be a very busy summer period where the pool is well used and enjoyed. We apologise for any short term inconvenience, and will update this page to let you know when it will reopen. Our pools in Mablethorpe and Skegness remain open, and more information on all our facilities can be seen at: https://www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/article/8474/Paddling-Pools.

News release 🗞️📢 The South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership has announced its second annual Culture Conference, set to take place on Wednesday 25 June from 10am until 4pm at the South Holland Centre in Spalding. Organised by the Partnership, comprising of Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council, the conference will delve into the vibrant cultural landscape of the region with the theme of storytelling. It will also celebrate the exciting launch of “Story Tellers”, the Partnership’s Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation project. Attendees can expect a day of insightful discussions, collaborative opportunities and a chance to share the narratives that make the sub-region special. The afternoon will be dedicated to networking, allowing for better understanding of the sector and to explore contributions to the area’s key cultural frameworks: Culture for All, Cultural Infrastructure, Culture for Health and Wellbeing, and Cultural Places. The conference will feature a keynote address from Claire Buckley, Programme Lead at Julie’s Bicycle, a leading charity working on sustainability in arts and culture. To make the day even more personal, attendees are invited to share an image and a sentence showcasing a creative success they've achieved in the past year. There are also lightning pitch opportunities for attendees to share their stories and promote their work. Fifteen delegates will have the chance to speak to the conference about their recent work and plans for the year ahead. These spots will be allocated on a first come first served basis and can be selected in the 'add-ons' section during the online registration. Councillor Graham Marsh, East Lindsey District Council's representative on the NPO culture board, Councillor Sarah Sharpe, Boston Borough Council's representative on the NPO culture board, and Councillor Elizabeth Sneath, South Holland District Council's representative on the NPO culture board, said: “After the success of last year’s event we are delighted to be holding another Culture Conference in South and East Lincolnshire, to bring together our cultural community and hear their inspiring stories of how they are making a difference across the sub-region. “The power of storytelling is fundamental to understanding and celebrating our shared heritage and future aspirations and this conference provides the perfect platform for connection, strengthening the shared cultural landscape of our part of the county. We hope to see and hear lots of local arts, culture and heritage organisations there on the day to share their journeys, learnings and opportunities together.” To find out more or to book a place at the Culture Conference, visit 2025cultureconference.eventbrite.co.uk. News release 🗞️📢 Get ready to step back in time as the popular Vintage on Sea event returns to Sutton on Sea on Saturday 28 June. Organised as part of Story Tellers, the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership's Arts Council England NPO project, and in partnership with the Sutton Events Group, the free event promises a day of nostalgic fun, attractions, workshops and performances throughout the village centre from 10am until 4pm. The day will be packed with an exciting array of entertainment and activities, designed to celebrate the traditional seaside holiday experience. Visitors can expect to enjoy classic fairground rides, live performances and even vintage hair styling appointments from Shea Hair and Beauty, all capped off with a planned fly-past from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, expected to be a Hurricane and Spitfire. The Meridale Youth and Community Centre will be transformed into a vintage cinema, complete with popcorn for the authentic movie experience, whilst live performances across the day will showcase a mix of talent for all ages, bringing together a variety of singers, bands, theatre, dance groups, magicians, and more. Other highlights will include traditional fairground attractions from Tooley’s Amusements, located in the Spar car park, and a market with over 30 different stalls offering everything from vintage items and delicious food and drink to engaging games and activities to get involved with. Those looking to get into the spirit of the day will be able to take part in a best dressed vintage competition, complete with trophies for the top three, with face painting available alongside craft workshops where people can create their very own miniature wooden beach hut to take home. A stunning display of vintage cars will be on display in Marine Avenue car park, the Bacchus Hotel car park and along Cromer Avenue. All visitors can enjoy free parking at both Broadway car park (LN12 2JN) and Furlongs field football pitch (LN12 2JL) for the event. Cllr Craig Leyland, leader of East Lindsey District Council said: “Vintage on Sea is a true celebration of community spirit and the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to get creative, step back in time, and enjoy a day filled with amusement and entertainment. “I hope that like last year there will be a great turnout to enjoy the fantastic range of sights and activities on offer, remembering why we fell in love with our beautiful coastline, whilst making brand new memories at the same time.” Sutton on Sea has been identified as East Lindsey’s Creative Hub site as part of the Story Tellers programme, highlighting its commitment to fostering artistic, cultural and heritage events in the village. This event is part of the Partnership's Story Tellers NPO project through funding from Arts Council England, which looks to support arts, culture, heritage and creativity across the whole of South and East Lincolnshire, providing meaningful opportunity and programming for residents, developing the sector and helping to build the local arts, culture and heritage offer. The Councillors' Community Grants Scheme is now open for 2025/26! 🎉 East Lindsey District Council has made more money available to support local community groups and projects. For 2025/26, each councillor has £4,000 available to grant to local not-for-profit organisations in their wards. This has increased from £2,000 as seen in 2024/25. Councillors may decide to award this funding to one project or may choose to split it between several good causes. The scheme intends to financially support smaller projects that are easily deliverable and to be supportive of local organisations. The Scheme is happy to fund capital costs for building improvements, playground equipment, IT or sports equipment, disabled facilities, energy efficiency measures and more. Additionally, Councillor Community Grants can cover revenue costs, such as salaries, rent, events costs, training fees, or general maintenance. For enquiries, please contact [email protected] Full details of the Scheme including eligibility criteria can be found in the Policy and Information Guide, found at https://loom.ly/8YAnTtk.
