Our Disease Prevention Officers were out in the field today checking yards for mosquito larvae… and guess what? They’re finding way too many! 🦟😱 Some mosquitoes need standing water to lay their eggs, and just a tiny bottle cap full is enough for them to hatch. That’s why we need YOU to join the fight! 💪 🛑 Take 10 minutes each week to: ✔ Dump standing water from buckets, containers, plant saucers, and toys ✔ Scrub pet bowls & birdbaths ✔ Cover or tip over anything that holds water We’re doing our part, but we can’t do it alone! Together, we can help keep the mosquito population as low as possible. 🚫🦟 🎥 Check out today’s field findings!

While out in the field, our Disease Prevention Officers heard chirping coming from a drain—and discovered a tiny chick trapped inside! Unable to climb out and separated from its mama, this little one needed a helping hand. With patience and care, our team safely rescued the chick 🐥. A small act of kindness can make a world of difference, and we’re happy to have been in the right place at the right time! Check out the heartwarming moment we captured on video! 🎥✨

The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) is committed to the health and safety of both our team and the wider community. As part of this commitment, MRCU recently updated its Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and partnered with the Cayman Heart Foundation (CHF) to ensure staff are properly trained to use them in case of a cardiac emergency. Through hands-on training led by CHF, employees gained the confidence and skills needed to respond swiftly and effectively if someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest. Quick action can save lives, and we are proud that our team is now better prepared to step in should the need arise. A huge thank you to the Cayman Heart Foundation for providing this essential training! Together, we’re working to build a healthier, safer Cayman.
