Tetracycline! Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been used for hundreds of years. It belongs to the tetracycline class of antibiotics. It is used to treat various bacterial infections, including: 1. Respiratory tract infections: such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis. 2. Skin and soft tissue infections: such as acne, cellulitis, and abscesses. 3. Urinary tract infections: such as cystitis and pyelonephritis. 4. Gastrointestinal infections: such as diarrhea and dysentery. 5. Sexually transmitted infections: such as chlamydia and gonorrhea. Proposed MOA of Tetracycline include: 1. Inhibiting protein synthesis: Tetracycline binds to the bacterial ribosome, preventing the production of essential proteins. 2. Interfering with cell wall formation: Tetracycline also inhibits the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to the death of the bacterial cell. Some adverse reactions, precautions and drug related effects are also made available. Take a look!
