U.S. President Donald Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa clashed at the White House today over controversial claims made by Trump regarding land seizures and violence against white farmers in South Africa. Trump has alleged a so-called “white genocide” and accused the South African government of inciting violence through its land reform policies, claims that South Africa strongly denies. Ramaphosa defended his country’s stance, stressing the need to correct historical injustices and dismissing Trump’s assertions as misleading. The meeting highlighted growing tensions between the two nations, with diplomatic relations at their lowest since the end of apartheid. -BBC- #CFMNews #Malawi

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has officially declared Damson Chelewani as the winner of the party’s primary elections for the Mulanje Central constituency, following the conclusion of a dispute resolution process. The decision was communicated through a letter dated 18th May 2025, signed by the party’s Director of Elections, Jean Mathanga. It comes after complaints were lodged regarding the credibility of the polls, particularly by Rhoda Gadama Misomali and other aspiring shadow Members of Parliament (MPs), prompting the party to call a meeting on 16th May to review the concerns raised. In the letter, the DPP Secretariat clarified that after hearing all involved parties and reviewing the facts, there was no evidence of intimidation, violence, or any acts that could have compromised the outcome of the elections. Furthermore, the party affirmed that there was sufficient evidence to confirm how the electoral process was carried out. “Given above, the primary elections dispute resolution committee has agreed to proceed as follows: That we proceed to declare Hon. Damson Chelewani as the winner of the elections,” wrote Mathanga. #CFMNews #Malawi
