The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has reported a rise in suicide cases, with 597 recorded in 2024, up from 527 in 2023. According to Deputy National Public Relations Officer for MPS Harry Namwaza, the majority of victims were men, with 522 males and 75 females in 2024, continuing a trend where men are more affected. Namwaza says most cases involved individuals aged 20 to 40. MPS is urging those struggling to seek guidance and counseling to better understand their challenges and find healthier ways to cope.
