His presidency of the Old Boys’ Association is marked not only by strategic advancement and unity among alumni globally, but also by his personal elevation to global status—proving that being a PRESECAN is not just an identity, but a launchpad to greatness. Last Saturday, Dr. Ofori Sarpong was honored as Keynote Speaker at the prestigious Oxford University Africa Society Conference 2025, where he delivered a stirring address on Entrepreneurship in Africa: Opportunities and Challenges. His words were not merely theoretical—they came from a deep well of personal success, resilience, and innovation. It is no surprise that every prestigious institution now seeks his presence—whether to deliver keynote speeches, inspire young leaders, or lend his credibility to their causes. *Ɔdadeɛ Kenneth Ghartey Shines on the Global Stage with Top Prize in PhD Insolvency Law Workshop* Great news is sweeping through the Ɔdadeɛ fraternity and beyond as Ɔdadeɛ Kenneth Ghartey, a proud alumnus of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon — Class of 2004 — has emerged First Prize Winner for Research Presentations at the prestigious Stichting Bob Wessels Insolvency Law Collection (BWILC) PhD Workshop, held at the historic Leiden University in the Netherlands from 7th to 8th May 2025. Kenneth, who studied General Arts during his time at PRESEC, has always been a beacon of brilliance. During his student days, he was a force to reckon with — winning multiple academic awards during Speech and Prize-Giving Day events, including top honours in Literature, Government, and Overall Best in General Arts. His sharp intellect, disciplined work ethic, and passion for legal thought were evident even back then — qualities that PRESEC honed through its rigorous academic environment and unrelenting spirit of excellence. At the BWILC PhD Workshop, Kenneth’s award-winning presentation was titled: “Arbitral Modified Universalism: Arbitration in Aid of the Universalist Enterprise in Cross-Border Insolvencies”. Drawn from a chapter of his doctoral thesis, his research proposes a bold new legal framework called Arbitral Modified Universalism (AMU). In it, he reimagines the role of arbitration not just as a tool for resolving insolvency-related disputes, but as a primary mechanism for managing entire cross-border insolvency processes — offering speed, efficiency, and flexibility. His innovative ideas impressed an esteemed panel of scholars including Dr Jennifer L.L. Gant and Professors Stephan Madaus, Paul Omar, Joeri Vananroye, Reinout Vriesendorp, and the legendary Bob Wessels himself. Kenneth expressed deep gratitude to the organisers of the workshop for the opportunity and praised the warm, intellectually stimulating environment created for young scholars to share and refine their ideas. He also celebrated his fellow presenters and congratulated other awardees. His achievement is yet another testament to the world-class training PRESEC provides its students — nurturing not only academic excellence but also global changemakers. The entire Ɔdadeɛ family celebrates Kenneth’s stellar accomplishment and looks forward to the future impact of his groundbreaking work in international insolvency law. Blue Magic continues to conquer! 💙💪🏾 Ɔdadeɛ Kenneth Ghartey, we salute you!
