IBRAHIM SANI HEADLINES KANO PILLARS U-19 SQUAD FOR 2025 NATIONAL YOUTH LEAGUE SUPER 8 PLAYOFFS IN LAGOS Kano Pillars FC is delighted to announce the squad for the 2025 National Youth League Super 8 Playoffs scheduled to take place in Lagos, with the immensely talented Ibrahim Sani Halliru leading the charge. The wing wizard, who has risen through the ranks at the club’s youth system, has already made senior team appearances during the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season. His inclusion is a testament to his hard work, technical prowess, and dedication to the badge of Sai Masu Gida. Coach Nasiru Rasha, who has been instrumental in the team’s growth this season, carefully selected a competitive squad poised to challenge for honours at the national stage. The Young Sai Masu Gida have shown impressive form throughout the regular season, finishing second in the Northern Conference level on points with Plateau United U-19 but behind on goal difference. The team has since arrived Lagos and the players are in high spirit ahead of the opening game on Monday. Following the official draw for the Super 8, the Young Sai Masu Gida U-19 have been placed in Group A alongside Enyimba Int’l U-19, Kwara United U-19, and Plateau United U-19 in what promises to be an electrifying and tightly contested group. The Pyramid City side will open their campaign against Plateau United on Monday, 23rd June 2025, before locking horns with Kwara United in their second group game. The final group match will witness the first-ever Zobia Clasico at youth level as Kano Pillars take on Enyimba Int’l in a clash that is expected to draw wide attention from fans and pundits alike. Coach Nasiru Rasha expressed confidence in his squad, stating: “We are fully prepared. The players are motivated and understand what is at stake. Our goal is not just to participate but to win. We are going to Lagos to make the people of Kano proud.” In further show of support and commitment to youth development, the Kano State Government, through the Honourable Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, has provided all necessary backing to ensure a smooth and successful campaign. Speaking on behalf of the management, Club Chairman Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar commended the government's unwavering support and expressed optimism that the team would return home with the coveted trophy. “We are proud of what the U-19 team has achieved so far. This tournament is an opportunity for our future stars to showcase their talents on a national platform, and we believe they are capable of bringing the trophy home,” the Chairman said. The chairman therefore, calls on its supporters, stakeholders, and the football community to rally behind the boys as they strive to write a new chapter in the history of Kano Pillars FC. CLUB STATEMENT KANO PILLARS FC MOURNS THE PASSING OF FORMER CHAIRMAN ALHAJI ABBA ABDULLAHI YOLA It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that Kano Pillars Football Club announces the passing of its former Chairman, Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola, who died today, Friday, 20th June 2025, after a protracted illness. Alhaji Abba Yola was a revered figure in Nigerian sports, widely respected for his lifelong dedication to the development and administration of sports both in Kano State and across the country. His legacy is marked by numerous leadership roles, including: Serving as Secretary of the Kano State Basketball Association, where he laid foundational structures for basketball development at the grassroots level. Leading Kano Pillars FC as Chairman during a transformational era for the club, fostering competitive excellence and stability. Acting as Chief of Staff to the former Minister of Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare, where he played an instrumental role in formulating national sports policies. Serving four times as Secretary of the National Sports Festival Main Organising Committee, contributing immensely to the successful staging of Nigeria's foremost multi-sport event. Chairing the Presidential Task Force on Sports, where he spearheaded national sports reforms and strategic development programs. Alhaji Abba Yola was a committed sports administrator, a mentor to many, and a true patriot who gave his all in service to his state and nation. His contributions to Kano Pillars FC and Nigerian sports at large will remain indelible in the hearts of those who knew and worked with him. The entire Kano Pillars FC family, management, technical crew, players, staff, and supporters of Sai Masu Gida extends heartfelt condolences to his family, the Government and people of Kano State, and the broader Nigerian sports community. ALI NA YARA CONGRATULATES NFF PRESIDENT IBRAHIM GUSAU ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS ACTING WAFU-B PRESIDENT The Chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club, Alhaji Ali Na Yara Mai Samba, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on his recent appointment as the Acting President of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B). In a statement released on behalf of the entire management, players, and supporters of the club, Ali Na Yara described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Alhaji Gusau's outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the growth and development of football in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
