Celebrating World Environment Day 2025 NYEWASCO, alongside the County Government of Nyeri and other partners, celebrated World Environment Day with a spirited emphasis on the theme #BeatPlasticPollution. The day kicked off with a spirited clean-up event starting at Kamukunji Market and culminating at the Kangemi Sewer Treatment Plant. This initiative, led by Hon. Ndirangu Gachunia, the CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, and Urban Development, showcased the community's unified approach to tackling plastic waste and urban pollution. In addition to the clean-up, a tree planting ceremony took place at the Kangemi Sewer Treatment Plant graced by H.E. Kinaniri Waroe, the Deputy Governor of Nyeri County, and CECM Hon. Fredrick Kinyua, who actively participated in planting trees. Their involvement highlighted a strong commitment to environmental protection, with both leaders advocating for action against plastic waste to improve public health and preserve the ecosystem. Today marks the last day of the two-day training on Alcohol & Substance Abuse (ASA) at NYEWASCO. The training was officially opened by our Managing Director, Eng. Peter Kahuthu, who reaffirmed the company’s dedication to promoting a healthy and supportive work environment. Staff were taken through enlightening and engaging sessions facilitated by professionals from Ihururu Treatment and Rehabilitation Hospital, focusing on the dangers of substance abuse, early intervention, and the importance of mental wellness in the workplace. It has been an inspiring and enriching two weeks for NYEWASCO staff who had the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive customer experience training program facilitated by Goodit International Ltd. This initiative is part of our ongoing strategy to enhance service delivery by equipping staff with modern skills and industry best practices in customer relationship management. The training was designed to deepen understanding of customer experience, covering fundamentals, the customer value chain, and effective problem-solving. It also featured team-building activities to promote collaboration, trust, and cohesion—key to delivering a seamless customer journey. Aligned with NYEWASCO’s customer-first approach, the program emphasized soft skills essential for meaningful engagement, such as emotional intelligence, adaptive communication, modern service standards, and the importance of cross-departmental collaboration. The lessons from this training will help improve customer interactions.
