Earlier today, our Managing Director, Eng. Peter Kahuthu, held a strategic briefing meeting with the Deputy County Commissioner at his office to discuss collaborative measures in tackling vandalism. The discussions focused on how the national government, through the security committee, can provide support in curbing this growing challenge and safeguarding essential water and sanitation infrastructure. Vandalism remains a significant threat to water service delivery, with criminals targeting critical infrastructure, including water meters, valves, pipes, and manhole covers. These acts not only disrupt operations but also result in water loss, increased maintenance costs, service interruptions, and health risks due to potential contamination. We urge all stakeholders, including government agencies, security teams, community leaders, customers, and the general public, to join hands in fighting vandalism. Peter Kahuthu, Senior Officer - Billing & Debt Collection John Wamathai and the Pro-Poor Services team visited key water and sanitation initiatives aimed at improving access for unserved and underserved communities. The team toured the Bondeni Chania Water Kiosk, which provides affordable and safe water to local residents, ensuring that clean water is accessible to all. They also inspected the UBSUP Toilets in Witemere and Ruring’u, a vital sanitation project improving hygiene and living conditions in informal settlements. The team also visited the Whispers Park Sanitation Facility, an award-winning public toilet that promotes cleanliness, dignity, and environmental sustainability in urban sanitation.
