About C.S.I. Kanyakumari Diocese (Official)
This is the official Channel of CSI Kanyakumari Diocese. The dawn of 19th century, witnessed considerable changes in the socio-political and religious life of the people in South Travancore. The history of the Protestant tradition in Kanyakumari is different from other traditions. While the Syrian and Roman Catholic faith were brought into Travancore by foreign ecclesiastics, the Protestant religion had the honor of being introduced into the state by one of its own subjects. While, the Syrian and Catholic churches had established their churches in this region, yet a non-denominational missionary wing called London Missionary Society carried on another missionary enterprise. This missionary enterprise was remarkably noted for their active role that brought change in the social structure and significantly contributing to sow the seed for the unique organic union that resulted in formation of CSI at national level and adding new dimensions for the ecumenical movement at the global level. As an ecumenical community C.S.I Kanyakumari Diocese have witnessed the contribution of several missionaries and leaders for its growth. May the almighty God strengthen us to walk in our faith journey.
