📢 New support for foster carers: helping kids stay in loving Plymouth homes A new package of support has been developed to help children and young people with higher levels of need to live in a family home in or near to Plymouth. The new ‘Step Forward Scheme’ for foster carers has been developed by Foster for Plymouth to address the challenge of a growing number of children in residential care. Foster carers who support children with complex needs will receive: ✔️Financial support: A minimum of £800/week (£41,600/year) ✔️Professional support: Access to mental health experts and dedicated social workers ✔️Peer support: Buddy systems and monthly group meetings 💙 Do you want to make a difference in children’s lives, right here in Plymouth? 📢 Funding to help build affordable homes in Plymouth! Nearly £8 million in new funding will speed up affordable housing construction in Plymouth, supporting the Plan for Homes, which has delivered over 7,500 homes so far. Now with a total budget of £11.5 million, the plan aims to try to tackle the housing crisis in Plymouth. 🚢 Smooth sailing ahead as Mount Edgcumbe Slipway reopens! The Mount Edgcumbe slipway has officially reopened following extensive repairs, ensuring safe and reliable access for Cremyll Ferry passengers. The repair works, which began in late October, have been successfully completed, and the slipway is now fully operational. 🎉 The Fit & Fed programme is BACK in Plymouth for 2025! Thousands of children in Plymouth will get to enjoy FREE healthy lunches, fun activities, and so much more during the school holidays! Thanks to confirmed funding from the Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, Fit & Fed will return this Easter, summer, and Christmas. This fantastic initiative is all about supporting families with children who receive benefits-related free school meals. Eligible children can get active, try new activities, and enjoy nutritious meals at no cost.
