The Open University of Kenya held a strategic partnership meeting with the International Certificate Digital Literacy (ICDL) officially launching the process to become an accredited ICDL Certification Centre. Once accredited, OUK will provide globally recognized digital literacy training at an affordable cost. Education Cabinet Secretary Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Elijah Omwenga, who reported that student enrollment at the institution has reached 3,600, indicating confidence in OUK’s affordable online learning model. The Vice Chancellor highlighted advancements in learning and management technologies and discussed recent partnerships with organizations like ICDL, KSG, Huawei ICT Academy, RVTTI, and KISM, aimed at enhancing academic experiences and improving student employability. The VC expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s support, while the CS praised the University’s progress and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to OUK’s digital education initiatives.


The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at The Open University of Kenya is working closely with the Innovations in Development, Education and the Mathematical Sciences (IDEMS International) to validate the forthcoming Master of Science in Mathematical Innovation. This dynamic programme is designed to equip mathematics graduates, data scientists, educators and problem-solvers with the to address real-world challenges through mathematical thinking and innovation.
