On May 17, 2025, we commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a crucial reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance faced by the LGBTQ+ community. As we mark this significant day, we must acknowledge the importance of creating safe and inclusive spaces for Key Populations to access HIV and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) services. By doing so, we can work towards a world where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live without fear of discrimination or marginalization. The creation of safe spaces for Key Populations is not only a matter of human rights but also a critical step in ending new HIV/STI infections. When individuals feel comfortable and supported, they are more likely to seek out essential health services, including HIV testing, treatment, and prevention. By promoting inclusivity and reducing stigma, we can help bridge the gap in healthcare access and ultimately contribute to a world with zero new HIV infections. Let us join forces to create a more compassionate and equitable society, where everyone can thrive and live a healthy, fulfilling life.

Nigel facilitated sessions during our Churches and Communities Initiative, where we discussed the impact of substance abuse on community development. He said, "Sadly, many youths have lost sight of their dreams due to addiction. Let's join forces to empower them and restore their purpose in shaping our communities."

#WomanCrushWednesday Effective ART adherence is a crucial aspect of managing HIV/AIDS, and it's essential to recognize the vital role that parents and caregivers play in this process. As Rufaro Zvirahwa, our Programs Assistant, says, "There is no way we can achieve effective ART adherence without including parents and caregivers." By involving them in the care and support of their loved ones, we can significantly improve treatment outcomes and overall well-being. Parents and caregivers are often the primary caregivers for Youths living with HIV, and they can provide emotional support, remind them to take their medication, and help them navigate the healthcare system. However, they often require capacity building to effectively support their loved ones. By providing them with the necessary training, resources, and support, we can empower them to play a more active role in promoting ART adherence. Let's work together to support parents and caregivers in their crucial role. By doing so, we can improve treatment outcomes, reduce the risk of transmission, and enhance the overall quality of life for Youths living with HIV. We can make a difference by providing capacity building opportunities for parents and caregivers, and by recognizing the importance of their role in promoting ART adherence.
At Action for Youth Foundation Trust, we're committed to making a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children. In 2024, we were able to support over 75 children with clothes and food, and this year, 20 children received educational support in the form of school uniforms and stationery.
