Disorder plays a central role in the theoretical description of a rich variety of systems spanning several disciplines — soft and hard condensed matter, biology, information science and engineering. One of the goals of this school is to reach a broad audience that includes students interested in complexity or bio-inspired applications, as well as information science and quantum materials. The school will establish a common forum where theories of general interest can be learned and discussed, catalyze the nucleation of new research lines in São Paulo and Brazil, and expose students to a full breadth of intellectual opportunity in the field of disordered systems. _As a São Paulo School of Advanced Science, funds are available for travel and local expenses of Master’s and PhD students from not only South America but also from other continents._ *Application deadline:* February 15, 2025 *More information:* https://www.ictp-saifr.org/spsasds2025/

This workshop will bring together experienced students and researchers, and provide a platform for fostering collaboration among members of the soft matter community in Brazil, as well as a forum for discussion of key recent developments in the field. In addition to several research seminars that will be given by outstanding invited speakers, selected participants will have the opportunity to present short talks, and take part in a series of activities at the new Brazilian synchrotron light source (Sirius). _There is no registration fee and limited funds are available for travel and local expenses. This workshop will be followed by the School on Biological Physics and Biomolecular Simulations from April 14-19._ *Application deadline (for presentation and/or financial support request):* February 15, 2025 *Registration deadline:* March 27, 2025 *More information:* ictp-saifr.org/bwsm2025

ICTP-SAIFR is promoting one-day meetings (to be run every 2 months) of the São Paulo community working in the related areas of quantum technologies, quantum information, and quantum computing. The idea is to have a light schedule, with a couple of talks and plenty of time for discussion. The main purpose is to explore the synergies between different groups and between experimental and theoretical researchers. _There is no registration fee for poster presentation and no need for registration for the other participants._ *Next meeting:* February 20, 2025 – Quantum Sensing *More information:* https://www.ictp-saifr.org/quantum_technologies/

To extend the reach and diversity of its annual meetings, the American Physical Society has developed a pilot program of APS Satellite Meetings with the participation of ICTP-SAIFR in Latin America. As part of the APS Global Physics Summit from March 16-21, 2025, ICTP-SAIFR is organizing on March 17 (Monday) a 2-hour Satellite Session on Quantum Technologies that will be broadcast live to all participants of the APS Meeting, as well as a 2-hour session on Quantum Systems for student/postdoc presentations to a local audience. _There is no registration fee for participation in the APS-SAIFR Satellite Meeting._ *Application deadline for students/postdocs to present short talk or poster:* March 1, 2025 *More information:* https://www.ictp-saifr.org/apssgps2025/

In this minicourse, we aim to introduce the participants to the expansive field of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). These equations serve as powerful tools for modeling a remarkable spectrum of natural phenomena—ranging from quantum effects at nanometer spatial scales and femtosecond timescales, to fluid dynamics at scales familiar from everyday life, and even up to the evolution of galaxies and cosmic structures across billions of years. _There is no registration fee and limited funds are available for local expenses. Students enrolled in the minicourse can receive credits through the IFT-UNESP graduate physics program. The lectures will be broadcast live via Zoom._ *Application deadline:* April 1, 2025 *More information:* https://www.ictp-saifr.org/mpde2025/

This seven-day school will address modeling of infectious disease dynamics with the objective of improving public health policies. The program includes a course on deterministic epidemic models and a course on the numerical treatment of those models. An important feature is the focus on group work involving “hands-on” modeling challenges. There will be classes in the morning and group projects in the afternoon. Participants from all areas related to the subject are welcome to apply. Knowledge of basic differential calculus is required. _There is no registration fee and limited funds are available for travel and local expenses._ *Application deadline:* March 1, 2025 *More information:* https://www.ictp-saifr.org/smidd2025/
