An unsound study alleging that white doctors are responsible for worse clinical outcomes with black newborns because of “spontaneous bias” serves as a tentpole propping up diversity, equity and inclusion in academic medicine, a new report by nonprofit Do No Harm argues. The disparity in mortality rates between black newborns and white newborns declines by 58% if the black newborns are under the care of black physicians, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) in August 2020. Hundreds of media outlets, which were gripped at the time by the Black Lives Matter movement, covered the “debunked” paper, which ranks in the top 5% of studies over the last five years in terms of impact in the lay press, according to a data aggregator used by scholars called Altmetric. Excellent work by OutKick here, definitely some of their best. Around a month ago, OutKick originally reported there is evidence suggesting legendary sports apparel brand Nike funded a study on youth athletes. And not just youth athletes, but transgender youth athletes. Not surprisingly, Nike has been extremely quiet about their alleged involvement. Another set of people that have been silent on the matter are Democrats, because of course. OutKick reached out to several, including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett. None of them responded. Shocker, I know. Former President Joe Biden kept offering to testify in his son’s federal gun trial in Delaware, a new book alleged. Despite international trips and an upcoming presidential debate, Biden repeatedly suggested that he should testify at Hunter Biden’s federal gun trial in June 2024, Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper’s new book “Original Sin” alleges, according to Axios. The book is based off of over 200 interviews, mostly with Democratic Party insiders. “The weekend before the trial began, Biden again offered to testify or come to court, despite his packed schedule,” the authors write. The statement characterizes the cancer Biden has as “a more aggressive form of the disease” that has metastasized to the bone, but the statement adds that it can be effectively managed. A top Iranian official said Wednesday that Tehran was open to foregoing enriching weapons-grade uranium in a new nuclear deal with the U.S., according to NBC News. Ali Shamkhani, a top adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, told NBC News that Iran would commit to never developing nuclear weapons, destroy its stockpile of weapons-grade uranium and allow international oversight to ensure it is only pursuing civilian nuclear applications in exchange for the U.S. lifting all economic sanctions. Numerous Chinese government-linked entities have bankrolled a nonprofit accused of offering tips on how to evade federal immigration authorities, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.
