Rasulullah (ﷺ) said: *“Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine for him between this Friday and the next.”* `[Sunan al-Kubrá lil-Bayhaqī 5996]`

Allāh ﷻ said in the Qur’an: *{فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ}* *“On that night every matter of wisdom is ordained”*_[Qur'an 4:44]_ *Some of the Salaf held the view that this verse refers to the “Middle Night of Sha‘bān (Shab-e-Bara'āt)”.* Imām Ibn Abī al-Dunyā (رحمه الله) reported: The student of Ibn ʿAbbas, ʿIkrimah (رضي الله عنهما) said: *“This verse refers to the night of the middle of Sha‘bān, during which the decrees for the year are finalized. The living are distinguished from the dead, and the names of those who will perform Hajj are recorded—no one is added to them, nor is anyone removed from them.”* `[Kitāb Faḍāʾil Ramaḍān 7, Tafsīr at-Ṭabarī 10/22]` _We know that this Tafsir is not right, but it shows how much importance and sanctity some of the Salaf believed the 15th night of Sha‘bān to have._

Shaykh al-Islām Abdul Qadīr al-Jilanī al-Ḥanbalī (رحمه الله); *“It is said that the angels have two nights of Eid in the heavens, just as Muslims have two days of Eid on earth. The Eid of the angels is on _"Laylat al-Barā’ah" (the Middle Night of Sha‘bān) and "Laylat al-Qadr"_ while the Eid of the believers is on "Yawm al-Fiṭr" and "Yawm al-Aḍḥā."* *The angels ‘Eid occurs at night because they do not sleep, whereas the believers’ Eid occurs during the day because they sleep.”* `[Al-Ghunya at-Talībeen 1/348]`

Imām Alqamāʿ ibn Qays (رحمه الله) was once asked about: *a man who fornicated with a woman and later married her,* and he replied by reciting the verse, *“It is He who accepts the repentance of His worshipers, and remits the sins.”*_{Qur'an 42:25}_ `[Musannaf Ibn Abī Shaybāh 17626, Kitāb al-Āthār 203]`

Sayyidunā Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: *❝There will be people who will love me so excessively that they will cross all limits and enter Hell because of it. And there will be people who will hate me so intensely that they will exceed all bounds and enter Hell due to their hatred for me.❞* `[Musannaf Ibn Abī Shaybāh 32133, Faḍā’il al-Ṣaḥābah 952]`

✨ *`The Night of the 15th of Sha'bān (Laylat al-Barāʾah)`*🌼 Sayyidunā Abū Bakr (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: *“Indeed, Allāh, the Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven on the night of the middle of Shaʿbān and forgives every person, except for a Mushrik or a person who harbors malice in his heart.”* `[Musnad al-Bazzār 1/206,Kitāb al-Sunnah li Ibn Abī Āsim 509]` > Grade: Saḥīḥ according to Al-Albani Sayyidunā Mu’ādh ibn Jabāl (رضي الله عنه) reported, The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: *“Allāh looks down at His creation on the middle night of Sha’bān and He forgive all of his creatures, except for an idolater or one harboring hatred.”* `[Saḥīḥ ibn Hibbān 5665, Majmā' az-Zawa'īd 12960]` > Grade: Saḥīḥ according to al-Arna'ut Sayyidunā Abū Tha’labāh (رضي الله عنه) reported, The Prophet (ﷺ) said: *“On the middle night of Sha’bān, Allāh ﷻ looks down upon His creation and He forgives the believers, gives respite to the unbelievers, and He abandons the people of malice to their malice until they give it up.”* `[Shu'āb al-Imān 3551, al-Mu’jam al-Kabīr 590]` > Grade: Saḥīḥ according to al-Albani Tābiʿī, al-Imām Aṭā ibn Yasār (رحمه الله) said: *“There is no night after Laylāt al-Qadr more virtuous than the night of the middle of Sha‘bān (Laylat al-Barāʾah). Allāh ﷻ, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven and forgives all His servants, except for a polytheist, one who harbors enmity, or one who severs family ties.”* `[Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif 1/264]` Imām Ishāq ibn Rahuyāḥ (رحمه الله): *“approved of spending this night in worship/in the masjid.”* `[Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif 1/263]` Imām ash-Shafi'ī (رحمه الله) said: *“It has reached us that supplication (duʿāʾ) is answered on five nights:* *the night of Friday, the two nights of Eid, the first night of Rajab (Laylat Awwal Rajab), and _the night of the middle of Shaʿbān_ (Laylat Niṣf Shaʿbān), I recommend everything that has been narrated regarding these nights.”* `[Kitāb al-Umm 1/264, Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif 1/264]` Imām Ibn al-Hajj al-Malikī (رحمه الله) writes: *“The Salaf (Pious Predecessors) would sanctify this night and prepare themselves for it in advance.”* `[Al-Madkhāl 1/299]` Hafīdh Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī (رحمه الله) said: *❝It is befitting for a believer to dedicate himself on that night to the remembrance (Dhikr) of Allāh Almighty and to supplicate (Duā) for the forgiveness of sins, the covering of faults, and the relief from distress. He should precede this with repentance, for indeed Allāh ﷻ accepts repentance on this night from those who repent. Stand on the noble night of the middle (of Sha'bān) in prayer... for the most honorable night of this month is the night of its middle.❞* `[Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif 1/265]`

*`The Mushrikūn of Makkah committed Shirk in the Tawhid al-Rubūbiyyah`* The Tabiʿī, Imām al-Quraẓī (رحمه الله) says, That Allāh's 3 refutations in _Qur'an 17:111_ relate to 3 claims made by 3 groups: *“The Jews and the Christians said: 'Allāh took a child', and the Arabs said [in the talbīyah]: ' _At Your service, at Your service You have no partner, except a partner You own'_ and the Sabians and Magians said, 'If it were not for the protectors of Allāh, Allāh would be weak.' Thus,* Allāh ﷻ revealed this verse: *“And say, 'Praise be to Allāh, who has no child, _nor has He a partner in His mulk [sovereignty/rule],_ nor is He so weak as to need a protector, and glorify Him constantly.”* وَقُلِ الۡحَمۡدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىۡ لَمۡ يَتَّخِذۡ وَلَدًا وَّلَمۡ يَكُنۡ لَّهٗ شَرِيۡكٌ فِى الۡمُلۡكِ وَلَمۡ يَكُنۡ لَّهٗ وَلِىٌّ مِّنَ الذُّلِّ وَكَبِّرۡهُ تَكۡبِيۡرًا `[Al-Isrā' 17:111, Tafsir At-Ṭabarī 17:111]` *Mulk refers to what Allāh owns (creation) and has authority/power over. So when Allāh rejects a partner in His mulk as a response to the mushriks’ Talbīyah, we know that the real meaning of "partner" in the Talbīyah is a co-sharer who owns & rules creation, i.e. a lord.* Allāh’s response, again, reveals the mushriks’ Talbīyah to be Shirk ur-rubūbiyyah and this is echoed in the definition of Shirk given in Lisān ul-ʿArab (the most authoritative Arabic dictionary): *“And shirk with Allāh is to make a partner for Him in His Mulk [what he Owns and Rules over]. That is what is called shirk. Allāh the Exalted told a story regarding His servant Luqman that he told his son: 'O son, do not associate with Allāh. Shirk is a great wrongdoing.' And shirk is to make a partner in His lordship [rubūbiyyah].”* `[Kitāb Lisān ul-ʿArab 10/449]`

*Did Imām Abū Ḥanifa Issue Fatwas Based on His Own Opinion?* Imām Abū Ḥanifa (رحمه الله) said: *_“It is astonishing that people claim I issue fatwas based on personal opinion, whereas I issue fatwas only based on Athar (Hadith).”_* أبا حنيفة يقول: عجبا للناس يقولون: إني أفتى بالرأي، ما أفتي إلا بالأثر. `[Mirqāt al-Mafātīḥ 1084, Kitāb Ṭabaqāt al-Qārī al-Athmār 2/672]` #Hadith #HanafiSpirit #Salaf
