Islamabad, 12 June 2025 — In a major step toward climate action and sustainable development, the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) has granted approval for a landmark carbon credit initiative titled “The Safe Drinking Water Programme in Punjab, Pakistan”. This community-based project, led by the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority (PSPA) in collaboration with ATR Inc. of the Republic of Korea, marks Pakistan’s third-ever approval under the Article 6.2 framework of the Paris Agreement. The decision was formalized during a high-level meeting chaired by the Secretary MoCC&EC, with senior representatives from PSPA and ATR Inc. in attendance. Led by Punjab Saaf Pani Authority in partnership with ATR Inc. (Republic of Korea), this initiative will: • Access to safe water at 802 locations • Bring USD 25M in FDI • Reduce emissions by 432,698 tCO₂e annually _A major step for sustainable development and community well-being._
The Secretary of the MoCC&EC stressed: 🔸Inclusive representation of women experts on every panel 🔸Prioritising access to clean water and its safe usage as a core element of the gender action plan 🔸Documenting and showcasing the success stories of climate champions 🔸Leading by example through inclusive, community-driven climate policy 🔸Launching a UGC Competition in collaboration with IUCN to spotlight local climate actions, especially by women #ClimateAction #GovtofPakistan
The 4th meeting of the National Gender & Climate Change Committee (NGCCC) was held today under the leadership of the Secretary, Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC&EC), with participation from federal and provincial members, as well as the IUCN Pakistan team, including the Country Representative. A comprehensive presentation reviewed the progress under the Climate Change Gender Action Plan (ccGAP) and explored: 1. Alignment with the National Adaptation Plan 2. Implementation of gender sectoral plans
وزارتِ موسمیاتی تبدیلی میں رات گئے تک اہم اجلاس جاری وفاقی وزیر برائے موسمیاتی تبدیلی اور ماحولیاتی رابطہ، ڈاکٹر مصدق ملک کی زیر صدارت وزارت موسمیاتی تبدیلی کا اہم اجلاس جاری ہے۔ اجلاس میں سیکرٹری وزارت موسمیاتی تبدیلی سمیت اعلیٰ افسران اور فوریسٹری ونگ کے نمائندے شریک ہیں۔ فوریسٹری ونگ کے افسران کی جانب سے جنگلات کے تحفظ، شجرکاری مہمات، اور جاری منصوبوں پر پیشرفت کا جائزہ پیش کیا جا رہا ہے۔
اسلام آباد: 30 مئی 2025 پاکستان اور عالمی ادارۂ خوراک (WFP) کے مابین موسمیاتی ہم آہنگ شراکت داری پر اتفاق وفاقی وزیر برائے موسمیاتی تبدیلی و ماحولیاتی ہم آہنگی، ڈاکٹر مصدق ملک نے اقوامِ متحدہ کے عالمی ادارۂ خوراک (WFP) کی کنٹری ڈائریکٹر محترمہ کوکو اُشیاما سے ملاقات کی۔ ملاقات کا مقصد پاکستان اور WFP کے درمیان پانچ سالہ فریم ورک کے تحت موسمیاتی تناظر میں تعاون کے امکانات کا جائزہ لینا تھا۔ ملاقات میں پاکستان میں بچوں کی نشوونما میں رکاوٹ (stunting) کے سدباب سے متعلق اقدامات پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا، خاص طور پر ان چار بنیادی عوامل پر توجہ مرکوز کی گئی جنہیں "4Cs" کہا جاتا ہے: موسمیاتی تبدیلی، تنازعات، کووڈ-۱۹ سے پیدا شدہ معاشی بحران، اور بدعنوانی۔ دونوں فریقین نے ایسے پیشگی اور نتائج پر مبنی پروگراموں کی ضرورت پر زور دیا جو موسمیاتی موافقت (climate adaptation) اور پائیدار لچک (resilience-building) کو فروغ دیتے ہوئے غذائی قلت اور کمزور طبقات کو ہدف بنائیں۔ وفاقی وزیر نے مؤثر پالیسی پر مبنی اقدامات اور مشترکہ منصوبہ جات کی اہمیت اجاگر کی، جن کے ذریعے ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے نمٹنے کی حکمتِ عملی کو مقامی سطح پر نافذ کیا جا سکے، بالخصوص ان علاقوں میں جہاں غذائی قلت اور موسمیاتی خطرات زیادہ ہیں۔ یہ ملاقات پاکستان کی قومی غذائی، ترقیاتی اور موسمیاتی حکمت عملیوں میں پائیدار ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دینے کے باہمی عزم کی مظہر تھی۔
