Minister of State for Climate Change, Shezra Mansab Ali Khan, represented Pakistan at a high-level regional event hosted by the Government of Kyrgyzstan, marking a major step in global snow leopard conservation efforts. The event celebrated the launch of the Ak Ilbirs Ecological Corridor—a protected landscape covering over 792,000 hectares in the Issyk-Kul region—designed to ensure safe movement and connectivity of snow leopards across Central Asia. Pakistan joined fellow range countries in reiterating its support for the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Program (GSLEP) and endorsed October 23 as International Snow Leopard Day, adopted by consensus at the UN General Assembly. With an estimated 4,000–6,400 snow leopards remaining in the wild, Pakistan remains committed to protecting this endangered species through community-led conservation, research, and transboundary cooperation.
