Chairman of the Constitution Committee, MK Simcha Rothman, at the Jerusalem Post Annual Conference in New York: “There has been a lot of talk about the ‘conception’ and about breaking out of the conception after October 7. The legal world is still stuck in the conception of October 6. Anyone trying to prosecute the Nukhba terrorists through the regular legal system has not broken out of the conception. Anyone who fails to indict and press charges for incitement to genocide—not only in Gaza and among Hamas but also in mosques here in the New York area—has not broken out of the conception. *We must wake up*.”

Two Israeli embassy staff were murdered in a shooting outside a Jewish museum in Washington. The murderer shouted “Free Palestine” before opening fire. Our hearts are with the families and with the Jewish community in the United States. *dansenor* just tweeted that they feel like they are in Paris. It’s time to update that comparison. Over the past week, in the Jewish communities I visited and in conversations with thought leaders, I said I feel like a resident of the Land of Israel visiting Germany in the 1920s or 1930s. The well-meaning hosts ask about the situation back home - about the riots, the Arab revolt, the pogroms - while they themselves are sitting on a powder keg of antisemitism and anti-Israel hatred. What happened today is horrific. It must prompt serious reflection and action from both the U.S. government and the Jewish community. Chants of “Free Palestine” are not expressions of opposition to the occupation or political protest. They are the modern-day equivalent of the 19th-century German pogromists’ “Hep Hep” cries - and they must be treated accordingly.

Good morning @Keir_Starmer I know your Hebrew skills are less than perfect because you sanctioned Israeli Treasurey Minister @bezalelsm based on false translation, but maybe you can use someone's help and get a decent translation of this:

*Chair of the Constitution Committee, MK Simcha Rothman:* "Today in the Constitution Committee, my bill passed its second and third readings. The law cancels the use of the term 'West Bank' and instead refers to these regions by their proper and rightful name - 'Judea and Samaria.' This legislation carries public, declarative, political, and diplomatic significance, especially at a time when disgraceful sanctions are being imposed on Israeli public officials simply for implementing the Knesset's decision to oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state. We will stand as a strong barrier against any attempt to distort the simple truth - The Land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel, in all its parts."
