Philly’s Chinatown has welcomed community for thousands of families to its blocks and storefronts for well over 100 years, strengthening our city and our Commonwealth. My Administration is supporting Chinatown's vibrant array of small businesses, providing assistance to small diverse businesses who want to work with our Commonwealth and investing directly in main streets like this one. We are committed to supporting our small, diverse businesses – because when they succeed, our communities and our Commonwealth thrive.

There are 2.6 million Pennsylvanians over the age of 65, and the best way to meet their needs is to work closely with our community partners – including our Area Agencies on Aging. I’ve visited many of these Triple As, and I’ve seen how they’ve been underfunded for too long. This year, let's make a significant new investment in our Triple As and support our seniors.

Here in Pennsylvania, we’re building an ecosystem where innovators and entrepreneurs can thrive. That’s why my budget designates $50 million to help spur innovation, including $30 million specifically for life sciences to give our companies a competitive edge by helping industry leaders share data, commercialize their discoveries, and unleash Pennsylvania’s full potential. As graduation inches closer for high school and college students all across our Commonwealth, I want to congratulate the class of 2025 on their incredible achievements both in and out of the classroom. Our kids are our future — and that’s why we’ve made historic investments in them. Over the last two years, we’ve secured more than $2 billion in funding increases for K-12 education in Pennsylvania — giving more students the freedom to chart their own course and the opportunity to succeed. As a result, we have more teachers in our classroom, more mental health resources available to our students, and we’re seeing results as graduation rates rise and test scores improve. But we need to keep it up and continue to invest in our next generation of leaders.

I’m done letting private equity treat Pennsylvania hospitals like a piggybank they can empty out and smash on the floor. It’s time for us to stand up for our local health care and nursing facilities and reform private equity ownership of hospitals in Pennsylvania. I’ve heard from so many Pennsylvanians who rely on mass transit to get them where they need to go. Funding how we get to work, school, and wherever else we need to go shouldn’t be controversial. It’s time for the Senate to act and get a bill to my desk for the 1 million Pennsylvanians who rely on mass transit every day.

There’s no reason why we can’t make child care more accessible AND affordable for hard working parents in Pennsylvania. Last year, we expanded the Child Care Tax Credit to ensure more families could afford child care in communities across Pennsylvania. My budget this year focuses on increasing accessibility — giving child care workers at least $1,000 in recruitment or retention bonuses to ensure we have more great child care workers caring for our littlest ones. It’s just common sense.

In my first year, Democrats and Republicans came together to deliver universal free breakfast for 1.7 million students – so our kids can start their day with a full belly and focus on learning. Here in Pennsylvania, we’re giving our kids the tools they need to succeed. Let’s keep it up.
