*LIVING WORD DEVOTIONAL* _By Pastor Mensa Otabil_ Tuesday 21st January 2025 *THE RIGHT LOCATION* *Scripture Reading:* Genesis 3 > _Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?" *Genesis 3:9*_ The first question that God poses in Scripture is found here: "Where are you?" Because God knows all things, we must understand that He did not ask this question to gather information for Himself. Instead, He asked the question for Adam and Eve to find out where they were about Him. I think it is still a relevant question that He continues to ask of all of us, ‘where are you?’ This is a question that calls us to shed off our hypocrisy and honestly examine our hearts to identify whether we are where we want to be in our relationship with God. God’s standard has to do with will and purpose. He does not lower the bar for us. Each one of us lives life on His basis and not on our basis. Usually, we respond to the question about where we are by relating ourselves to a location or people. We respond by saying, ‘I’m in the living room’, or ‘I’m with John’. However, that was not the kind of answer God wanted from Adam. The Lord was not interested in the sort of tree Adam and Eve were hiding behind. He wanted them to relate their location with how close or far away they were from Him. You may be where your friends want you to be but are you where God wants you to be? To find out where we are, we must find out how close we are to God’s intention for us. To do that we have to ask ourselves some questions. - *Whom does God want me to become?* This is a question that helps us consider the kind person the Lord wants us to be. It is a question related to our spiritual and personal growth. The Lord wants each of us to be people whose character conforms to His image in us. - *What does God want to do with my life?* This question helps us to consider the best way to use the gifts God has blessed us with and the skills we have developed. It is a question related to our professional growth. The Lord wants each of us to use all that He has given us to honour Him. - *Where does God want me to be?* This question helps us consider whether we have placed ourselves and our gifts in the right atmosphere. The Lord wants us to serve Him in the right place. Today, God is asking, “_________ where are you?” *Prayer:* _Heavenly Father, I want to be where you want me to be. Help me to stay close to you at all times. In Jesus’ name, *Amen.*_ _Follow the Mensa Otabil channel on WhatsApp:_ https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaDGaZYKgsNpjYeBVM2S
