The other day, I was struggling to open a jar of sauce.
My husband reached over, gave the lid a quick twist, and popped it right open. Without thinking, I said, "Thanks, I really appreciate it."
Later that night, I heard our son say the exact same thing to his older brother:
"Thanks, I really appreciate it!"
I just stood there, smiling. A little reminder that our kids are always watching, always listening.
The way we treat each other as parents? That’s what they pick up.
That’s what they carry into their own relationships.
So here’s a little experiment—next time your spouse does something helpful, thank them out loud.
Not just a quick "thanks" in passing, but something a little more thoughtful:
"I really appreciate you picking up groceries. It made my day easier."
Your kids will hear it.
They’ll see what appreciation looks like. They’ll feel it. And before you know it, they’ll start doing it too.
This week’s parenting guide is all about the power of praising your partner in front of your kids. Give it a try. You might be surprised at what sticks. ❤️
As always, thank you for reading and sharing. We’ll see you back here next week Monday!
In gratitude
