Your weather app might soon be telling you that it feels cooler when you walk around your HDB estate. This is what we’re aiming for in extending the cool coatings initiative to all existing HDB estates by 2030 😎 Cool coatings are a special type of paint that reflect the sun's heat, reducing surface heat absorption and emission, and our 2-year study in Tampines has shown that they reduced ambient temperature by up to 2°C.
