Had a great time at Chingay Parade 2025! It’s a special celebration this year as we mark SG60. Chingay started as a street parade for Chinese New Year but has evolved into a multicultural festival, bringing our different communities together. It’s not just about performances. It’s truly a people’s festival, reflecting our larger ethos of inclusivity, harmony and unity. I’m glad that Singapore and Malaysia will be jointly nominating Chingay onto the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This affirms the importance of Chingay in our shared heritage, and ensures we preserve this rich tradition for generations to come.
