⚠️ E-commerce scams may come in many forms— fake online advertisements, fake websites and even fake buyers! 🛒
Scammers posing as sellers may also ask you to install apps sent via text messages to make payment. These apps contain malware and give scammers access to your mobile devices.📱
Stay vigilant and always CHECK for scam signs before making a purchase.👀
Protect yourself:
✅ Shop on established e-commerce platforms with higher transaction safety ratings. Learn more on go.gov.sg/mhatsr
✅ Pay using secure payment options offered by the platform.
✅ Do not click on links, install apps or scan QR codes sent via text messages by unknown sellers.
✅ Only download apps from official app stores.
✅ Never disable your device’s security settings (e.g. disable Google Play Protect) nor grant permission to persistent pop-ups that request for access to your device’s hardware or data.
