*-JAMUS LIM-* Over the weekend, #teamsengkang bid a slightly early welcome to the Chinese New Year with the usual dong dong chiang, as well as songs-and-dances by a local preschool, and a 变脸 (facechanger) that drew gasps and glee from the crowd. Along with an array of games and a giant 财神爷 (God of Fortune), we hope #sengkanggrc ushered in the year of the snake in style! Many have told me that this year of the wood snake is auspicious for a number of zodiac animals that have had rough years of late, including my own two signs (I’m like a 兔尾龙头, having been born at the tail end of a rabbit year and just shy of a dragon one, so I’ve typically laid claim to both). I’m not much of a believer of horoscopes, but why not? I’ll take any good luck I can get, heh heh. Thanks to all our performers—especially the preschool kids who braved the large crowd of unfamiliar faces—as well as all the volunteers who kept the show on the road!
