𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘂𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘁𝗵 A few days ago, Mdm M, a senior resident, lost her home and belongings to a devastating fire. It’s a heart-wrenching experience, but thanks to the collective effort of HDB and our dedicated grassroots leaders, she’s now settled in a temporary home at Block 224 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1. Our grassroots team didn’t stop there—they ensured Mdm M had the essentials to get back on her feet, from a pillow and blanket to a fan and electric kettle. She’s been sleeping on a camping bed. We just provided her with a proper bed frame and bedside storage for comfort. I visited her last evening to find out how she is doing. Despite losing her savings and personal belongings, Mdm M remains hopeful. She told me how grateful she is for her friends’ and the community’s support. Together, we reminded her that while material losses are painful, her health, safety, and the care of her neighbors are what truly matter. We’re also helping her navigate the next steps, including claims from her home fire insurance and additional support from charity organizations like Thye Hua Kwan and from Central CDC. Every effort matters in helping Mdm M rebuild her life, and seeing her smile through adversity shows the strength of her spirit.
