During my walkabout in Zone 2 (Blocks 201–204, 209–214), I checked in on the current Repair & Redecoration (R&R) works and listened to residents’ feedback on what more we could improve. One major fix already done: we’ve resurfaced the flooring between Blocks 203 and 204—now smoother, anti-slip, and much safer, especially for our seniors. More upgrades are coming soon, including dementia friendly signages, fresh paintworks for all the blocks and two new pickleball courts between Blocks 209/210 and 211/212 to encourage active living for all ages! Every improvement is shaped by what you share. Few weeks back in Parliament, I raised a question about how we can revitalise Singapore’s nightlife and support the businesses that bring our city to life after dark. I also asked how these efforts could boost local spending, given the importance of a vibrant nightlife scene in attracting both tourists and Singaporeans alike. As our economy continues to evolve post-pandemic, the resilience and growth of our service sectors remain key concerns—especially for our F&B and nightlife establishments that continue to face rising costs and manpower challenges. In response, the Ministry shared that agencies like STB, Enterprise Singapore and Workforce Singapore are working closely with industry groups like the Singapore Nightlife Business Association to support transformation, promote local experiences, and develop manpower capabilities. I welcomed the assurance that ongoing feedback sessions will be held with nightlife stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard. I will continue to follow up on how these policies translate into tangible improvements for our local businesses and workers. Our seniors at our Share a Pot session proved age is just a number! The morning kicked off with heart-pumping aerobics, followed by comforting bowls of nutritious soup lovingly prepared by YCK View RN volunteers — featuring chicken feet, red dates, mushrooms, and tofu. More than 40 seniors gathered not just for better health, but for something just as vital — connection. This monthly initiative, in partnership with Yio Chu Kang Grassroots Organisations, the National Healthcare Group, and our local hawkers, is more than a health programme — it’s a lifeline for isolated seniors to find warmth, purpose, and friendship again.
