Last weekend, I had the privilege of joining over 100 Yio Chu Kang residents at the Pongal Celebration, organized by the Yio Chu Kang Indian Activity Executive Committee (IAEC). Together, we lit the stunning Nachiarkoil lamp to kick off the festivities, celebrating our vibrant culture and traditions. Even as our Chinese residents are in the midst of Chinese New Year celebrations, we also take this time to celebrate Pongal—a beautiful reminder of Singapore’s multicultural spirit. From lively dance performances to traditional stove-cooked Pongal, creative pot-painting, and fun games like the Hanging Pot, there was something for everyone! The event ended on a high note with an electrifying dance finale and a hearty briyani lunch that brought us all closer as a community.
