Last weekend, I joined the Swee Kow Kuan Temple community for the temple’s annual Chinese New Year dinner. At first glance, it was a gathering like any other—great local dishes, laughter rippling through the temple, a shared wish for prosperity in the new year. But beneath it all was something deeper: a quiet reaffirmation of the ties that hold us together.
I met with the temple committee, spoke with residents, listened to stories that stretched across generations. Like the Snake, which sheds its skin to embrace renewal, our community continues to grow, adapt, and evolve—always grounded in the connections that make Yio Chu Kang feel like home.
Wishing everyone a year filled with wisdom, renewal, and the kind of joy that lingers long after the celebrations end.
