On 27 January, we commemorate the memory of the victims of the Holocaust on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
During the Second World War, six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis, including at least 1.5 million on Ukrainian soil. This unspeakable tragedy is a deeply painful part of Ukraine's history and a shared grief for humanity.
As the number of Holocaust survivors diminishes, the need to preserve their stories and learn from the past is more urgent than ever.
Tragically, the echoes of history resonate in today's reality. Russia's full-scale invasion has brought renewed suffering to our land, destroying memorials and claiming the lives of Holocaust survivors in Ukraine.
We must remain united in the fight against hatred and injustice, ensuring that those responsible for crimes of genocide today are held accountable. The horrors of the past should never be repeated.
May the memory of the victims be eternal 🕯️
