My dear friend, I hope you never relied on WhatsApp’s view-once feature in the past few months. It has come to light that there was a bug that allowed some people to view images meant to be view-once however many times they wanted.

A bug in WhatsApp's 'view-once' media feature on iOS allowed users to view media indefinitely by accessing it through storage management settings, which was not possible on Android.
The exploit allowed users to access view-once media by navigating to Settings → Storage and data → Manage Storage, where the media remained visible even after being opened.
Meta implemented a server-side fix over this past weekend to address the vulnerability, although they have not publicly acknowledged the issue.
This is not the first time WhatsApp's view-once feature has faced scrutiny; a similar issue was reported in September 2022, which was fixed in December. Then, WhatsApp Web users could view those messages even though they were not supposed to be able to.
I think it serves you right for using that view-once feature. What are you even using it for my G? Say what you mean and mean what you say. If you don’t want it in the ether after today, then why even risk sending it out there.
Even though the bug was fixed, don’t think anything you send over the internet has been scrubbed off of it just because you set it to view-once. The internet is forever sis.
