'I was eight when I first surfed – I got pummeled by massive waves, coming up for air only to get forced back under by the next one. I actually didn’t enjoy it, but something kept bringing me back to try and get better.
'Alongside this – for as long as I can remember – I felt different to the people I grew up with. Ultimately, surfing has helped to heal my relationship with my body. I have grown to accept that I don’t see it through the lens of gender, but just as what it is – the greatest tool I will ever own.
'Sadly, because I look a little different to what most would consider a ‘competent’ surfer – I have frequently experienced aggression and harassment while surfing' 👉 https://trib.al/UsfBZkl
