We mourn the passing of Zakia Jafri, a woman of extraordinary courage and resilience, who became a symbol of the relentless pursuit of justice for the victims of the Gujarat riots. As the widow of former Congress MP Ahsan Jafri, who was brutally killed in the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre, she endured profound grief and loss yet transformed her pain into an unwavering fight for accountability. For over two decades, despite numerous legal setbacks, she remained resolute in seeking justice - not just for the victims of the Gujarat riots but for the very soul of democracy. Her strength and determination will continue to inspire generations. We extend our deepest condolences to her children and loved ones and pray to Allah to forgive her and grant her eternal paradise.
Zakia Jafri will always be remembered as a symbol of patience and perseverance who fought tirelessly for justice until her last breath.
