*_🔹TYPES OF BREAST CANCER_*
*_(a)DUCTAL CARCINOMA IN SITU(DCIS)_*
▪️It is characterized by the proliferation(rapid growth) of malignant(cancerous) cells inside the milk ducts without invasion of the surrounding tissues.
▪️This can be clearly visualized on a mammogram with the appearance of calcifications, and considered breast cancer stage 0.
▪️If untreated,it has a likelihood of progressing to invasive cancer.
*_(b)INVASIVE CANCER_*
▪️This one invades the surrounding tissues.
*_(I)INFILTRATING DUCTAL CARCINOMA_*
▪️Accounts for 80% of all cases.
▪️Tumors arise from the duct system and invade the surrounding tissue.
▪️They often form a solid irregular mass in the breast.
*_(II)INFILTRATING LOBULAR CARCINOMA_*
▪️Accounts for 10-15% of breast cancer.
▪️Tumors arise from the lobular epithelium and typically occur as an area of ill-defined thickening in the breast.
*_(III)MEDULARY CARCINOMA_*
▪️Accounts for about 5% of breast cancer.
▪️Often diagnosed in women younger than 50 years of age.
▪️Tumors grow in a capsule inside a duct.
▪️They can become large.
*_(IV)MUCINOUS CARCINOMA_*
▪️Accounts about 3% of breast cancer.
▪️Often presents in post menopausal women 75 years of age and older.
▪️Tumor is slow growing, prognosis is more favorable than in many other types.
*_(V)TUBULAR DUCTAL CARCINOMA_*
▪️Accounts for 2% of breast cancer.
▪️Axillary metastasis is uncommon with this histology.
▪️Prognosis is usually excellent.
