_🔹DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATIONS_ _🔹PHYSICAL EXAMINATION_ _🔹BREAST EXAMINATION_ ▪️Assess for-lump location,shape,size,consistency,fixed or mobile. ▪️Increased vascularity, nipple retraction and ulceration, palpate adjacent axillary and supraclavicular lymph nodes,pain/soreness in the mass. ▪️Examine the axillary and supraclavicular areas for enlarged nodes. _🔹MAMMOGRAPHY_ ▪️It is a special type of low-powered x-ray technique. ▪️It gives detailed images of the internal structure of the breast. ▪️Visualizes internal structure of the breast, capable of detecting non palpable cancers or tumours that are in early stages of development. ▪️In mammography,each breast is compressed horizontally,then obliquely and an x-ray is taken of each position. _🔹ULTRASOUND IMAGING_ ▪️It can also be used in the assessment of a breast cancer. ▪️Complements findings of mammograms. ▪️ Distinguishes fluid filled cysts from solid tumours. _🔹MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING_ ▪️Used to view areas of concern found on a mammogram. _🔹BIOPSY_ ▪️May be done if a mammography or other screening method reveals a mass or lesion to determine whether it is benign or cancerous.
