A PhD position available in the areas of atomic and molecular physics at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), UAE We are looking for a PhD candidate to study the formation and dissociation dynamics of free-flying nanoparticles by utilizing femtosecond laser pulses and the NanoTRIMS (Nano Target Recoil Ion Momentum Spectroscopy) technique available at the material research center (MRC), AUS. This group is pioneered in exploring ultrafast reactions on nanoparticle surfaces and image their dissociation pathways under intense femtosecond photon pulses (Ref: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-24175-9). The predominantly experimental research involves the laser spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, and quantum chemical investigation of molecules, radicals, ions, clusters, and nanostructures in the gas phase, with strong relevance to a broad range of interdisciplinary topics ranging from materials science to biophysics, catalysis, astrochemistry, and intermolecular forces. There are also other spectroscopic techniques available at the facility including Raman Spectroscopy and FT-IR (Ref. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-025-87681-6).
