A massive 170 bighas of opium fields, worth ₹27.20 crore, have been destroyed on the Assam-Manipur border. Kudos to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for his strong efforts in saving the youth of Northeast India from drug addiction. On the other hand, the West Bengal government is actively trying to open liquor shops in every panchayat. In the last 10-15 years, there has been no significant effort to seize illegal narcotics. Recently, an illegal foreign liquor operation was exposed on land owned by a former TMC MLA. If Assam Police can act decisively, why is West Bengal Police failing to do the same? Why does Mamata Banerjee lack the will to fight against drug and liquor mafias?
