The offsprings of White Portuguese men and black native women were called Mulatos. Surprisingly it was a taboo for a black man to marry or sire a child with a white woman but it was okay when whitemen married or impregnated our Zimbabwean women. Many black women were seduced or raped by imperial white settlers and some totems originated from white ancestors. The popular one is Moyo Sinyoro which actually even praises whites who came to Africa through sailing ships, as elaborated by the phrase "Vazungu vakauya nengarava" in their Totem. On the other side it was totally unacceptable within the white settlers' society for a black man to seduce or for in love with a white woman. Our ancestors were entitled to corporal punishment if they made any advancement to white women. Chiwashira of the Mhofu Museyamwa Totem, who was a descendant of Nyashanu hailing from the House of Chandiwana was the first blackman to seduce and impregnate a white woman. The offspring of the romance between Chiwashira and his white lover is said to be Beatrice who is claimed to be the woman behind name of Beatrice Town and Farm near Mupfure River. Many Historians narrate Chiwashira as a physical fighter who was amongst the early black resistance. What is unknown is that the historical Chiwashira was actually a Spirit Medium who lived in Mahushu Caves that are found in Chikomba. Chiwashira befriended a white man who later left him in custody of his wife. The white settler and his fellow members where forced to leave in haste as they responded to Ndebele uprisings in Matebeleland. The Ndebele were the first to resist whites in the first Chimurenga/Umvekela uprisings. Chiwashira proposed to the white woman and she accepted Chiwashira because she was fond of the black Spiritualist and Zimbabwean Culture. Chiwashira shaved completely to baldness the head of his white lover to signify her rebirth into the Zimbabwean Culture. When the Ndebele and whites confrontation ceased, the white fellow who left his woman with Chiwashira returned to Mahushu and found Chiwashira already living with the white woman as husband and wife. The white settlers condemned this act of Chiwashira whom they finally captured after many failed attempts. Chiwashira was tied by the rope and pulled by a galloping horse while alive from Mahushu up to the first jail which was set by the white settlers called Dhirongo in Charter Estate, which was a distance of about 30km. This was executed to act as a warning to wannabe demonstrators and resistors. At Dhirongo, Chiwashira was tried and persecuted because he had undermined authority of colonial settlers through marrying a woman who was one of them. In the fear of Chiwashira's case as the spark to promote resistance in Mashonaland, they condemned him to death. He was beheaded at Dhirongo and his body was burned in a large pit nicknamed Chikomba. They took his head as a war trophy to British government.
