South Africa will begin evacuating injured South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldiers from the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) this week, authorities said on Monday. The number of soldiers needing evacuation remains undisclosed. Earlier reports of 190 wounded have been dismissed by authorities. The evacuation follows deadly clashes last month between M23 rebels and the Congolese military, resulting in the deaths of 14 SANDF personnel.
