Instagram says its ranking and recommendation algorithm update to help creators of all sizes breakthrough, is now fully launched
How Instagram’s updated algorithm works:
- Instagram reels are shown to both followers and non-followers
- For non-followers, reels first go to a small test audience likely to enjoy them
- Reels with high engagement are then shown to progressively larger audiences
- This system ensures content is distributed based on engagement, not just follower count.
Instagram says global video time grew by double-digit percentages year over year on Instagram in Q4 2024.
- Users are resharing reels over 4.5 billion times every day across Instagram and Facebook.
