𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻, 𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘆 This weekend, I stood with SM Lee Hsien Loong and my fellow MPs as Chingay@Heartlands rolled through Ang Mo Kio, Kebun Baru, and Yio Chu Kang. A drizzle fell, but it didn’t stop the crowd. It didn’t stop the floats. Because here in Singapore, we know how to show up for one another—rain or shine. As SM Lee stopped at AMK Central, I “took over” the procession as the vibrant floats traveled from Teck Ghee to Yio Chu Kang and onward to Kebun Baru and the rest of AMK GRC. Watching the joy unfold in the heartlands reminded me: Chingay is so much more than a parade. It’s a celebration of who we are—a nation built on diversity, united by tradition, and bound by our shared love for food and connection.
