Jalaludeen Maina, the Information Officer for the State’s Ministry of Education, confirmed the news on Friday. He stated that the school closure aligns with the state’s approved calendar for the 2024-2025 academic session. Maina told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the closure would take place from March 1 to April 5. He explained that this decision affects all educational institutions, including public and private primary schools, junior and secondary schools, as well as higher education institutions in the state. The State Government made this decision to ensure that students do not have to observe Ramadan while attending school. Maina added that all academic activities will resume after the fasting period. “Yes, we are closing all our schools and this is included in our 2024-2025 approved calendar for the academic session that our students are not going to do the Ramadan fasting while in school. The five-week holiday is for Ramadan fasting and immediately after the fasting, they will resume and continue with their academics,” he said.
