The Month of Ramadan Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen said: ‘All praise is due to Allaah. May Allaah’s praise and security be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and all his Companions. From Muhammad Salih al-Uthaymeen to those from the believing worshippers of Allaah to whom this advice reaches. May Allaah direct us and them to the path of guidance and correctness, Ameen. Assalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakatuhu, wa Ba’ad: Indeed on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Ramadan, I present to my brothers this advice, hoping from Allaah Ta’ala that He makes our deeds purely for His Face, and that our deeds follow what the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- brought. We say after seeking aid from Allaah: There is no doubt that from the blessings of Allaah upon His slaves is that He blessed them with this noble month, which He made as a month of goodness, an opportunity to gain righteous deeds. Allaah has blessed them with previous blessings and continuous eternal blessings. In this month Allaah revealed the Qur’aan, a guidance for the people and clarification of guidance and a criterion. In this month occurred the great battle of Badr with which Allaah honoured Islaam and its people and humiliated Shirk and its people, and the day of that battle was called the Day of the criterion. In this month of Ramadan there occurred a great victory in which Allaah purified the Bayt ul-Haram (the holy Ka’aba) from idols, and after that the people entered into the religion of Allaah in droves. In this month the Ummah of Muhammad -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- was given five characteristics which were not given to any Ummah before them: That the bad smell from the mouth of a fasting person is more of a fragrance to Allaah than the fragrance of Musk. Also, that the Angels seek forgiveness for the people fasting until they open their fast. Allaah beautifies His Paradise everyday. Then He says, it is as if My righteous slaves are about to abandon the worldly matters and its toil and turn to Him. The evil Shayyateen are shackled in this month, so they are not completely free to spread evil like they do in other than this month. Likewise, the people are forgiven at the end of a special night, it was said: O Messenger of Allaah, is that Layla tul-Qadr (the night of power)? He answered, “لا، ولكن العامل إنما يوفى أجره إذا قضى عمله”. ‘No, however a person who does good deeds will be recompensed with his reward if he completes his deeds.’ Whoever fasts this month with Eemaan in Allaah and hoping for a reward from Allaah, then Allaah will forgive him his previous sins, and who stands and prays in this month of Ramadan with Eemaan and hoping for a reward then Allaah forgives him his previous sins, and whoever prays during Layla tul-Qadr (the night of power) with Eemaan and hoping for a reward from Allaah then Allaah forgives his previous sins.’ ________________________ Taken from Sahab.net https://www.sahab.net/home/?p=905 https://followingthesunnah.com/day-1-the-month-of-ramadan/
