27 February 2025 Ndera FM News Marondera District Strengthens Health Systems through Collaboration Story by Tanaka Mutadzakupa Marondera District has taken a significant step towards enhancing healthcare delivery by fostering multi-sector collaboration. A recent Bi-Annual Coordination meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health and Child Care, National AIDS Council, and civic society organizations. The meeting aimed at strengthening district coordination and collaboration in HIV, Malaria, and TB interventions. Participants identified challenges in accessing health services, including the exodus of health practitioners to Europe and the halting of services by partners reliant on USAID funding. To address these challenges, participants emphasized the need for correct information dissemination and community-driven initiatives. ZiCHIRe BC's Programme Officer Kudakwashe Mashoko highlighted the success of Community Led Monitoring programs in improving ART adherence. The district has recorded a significant increase in ART adherence, with 85% of patients achieving viral suppression. The meeting also discussed issues affecting key populations, including the need for condom use and distribution to prevent new HIV infections and STIs. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of dialogue with school-going children, promoting Sexual Reproductive Health Services and Youth-friendly health centers. Over 10,000 students have benefited from the district's youth-friendly health services campaign. The meeting concluded with a call for teamwork and mainstreaming of programs in Marondera district through integration of services. By adopting a multi-sector collaborative approach, Marondera District is poised to strengthen its health systems and improve healthcare delivery for its residents.
