The swimming pool, once a popular spot for leisure swimming, has fallen into neglect, posing a danger to young children in the area. The barricade wall on the western side has collapsed, and the boundary fence has been vandalized. However, in an interview with Ndera FM News, the Public Health Manager of the Municipality of Marondera, Mr. Tonderai Parayiwa, assured that the council is committed to refurbishing all recreational facilities in Marondera, including the Dombotombo swimming pool. "The council has set aside 7% of its annual budget for the refurbishment of all sporting arenas," Mr. Parayiwa said. "We have an open-door policy, and any sporting association that wants to partner with us is welcome." The renovation of the swimming pool is expected to provide a safe space for young people to develop their swimming talents. Residents have expressed mixed feelings about the pool's fate, with some calling for its closure due to safety concerns, while others advocate for its revival to nurture swimming talent. The municipality's commitment to renovating the swimming pool is part of its plan to upgrade recreational facilities in Marondera. The Nyameni Sports Center is already undergoing renovation.
