“You can do it.” It’s a phrase meant to motivate and inspire, but for someone who’s lost their confidence, it doesn’t always have that effect. Those words can feel like a burden rather than support, reminding us of the gap between what we once believed we could do and what we now feel we can achieve. It’s like pouring salt into an open wound. Every time we hear it, it stings more. Instead of lifting us up, it can feel like an overwhelming expectation, adding pressure to an already heavy heart. What we need isn’t always a quick fix or a simple cheer. Sometimes, we just need to be heard and understood, without the weight of those expectations. Only then can we truly begin to rebuild our confidence, one small step at a time.
